Cookery TV shows, why do I like them so much, when...

... I can only just boil an egg!

Can't resist them... Saturday Kitchen Live (not so much since James Martin left), anything on the Food Network channel e.g. Restaurant Impossible etc.
They all look so easy, until they come to the part where they use the 26 ingredients that 'we've all got in our food cupboard'  , and the 12 pans and 14 gadgets (food processors etc) that we all have to hand, not to mention the mortar and pestle that no decent home is without.

Out comes the frozen pizza again!

I always loved Man vs Food - especially when eating beans on toast, the limit of my cooking skill

Otherwise, I'm a proud watcher of Masterchef and Bake Off :-)

Noomero oono here does all the cooking here and "the machine" in the corner does all the washing up.

We even have an automatic Hoover, namely;-----

and he doesn't even need to be plugged in.

Seriously though, I too watch all these cookery programs, not so much for the recipes, but more for the techniques.
Like the way they cut different veg or the way they cook steaks and fish.
A bit like reading between the lines, except I'm watching between the courses.

Chopping onions is no longer a case of nearly losing my fingers whilst chasing half onion skins along the worktop.

I don't agree with everything I see and neither myself nor Mrs Lobey like our steaks as bloody as TV Chefs seem to, but we have picked up some good pointers and it has steered us away from Deep Fried Mars Bars and other such Scottish delicacies.

The only format of any use is the 15 minute one, though I can't bear the mockney git.
So few of our young mums can even boil an egg. We watch more and more of these programs and have the fattest kids in Europe.

I could get a weeks 'ready meals for one' at my local supermarket for that... and have change!
