Could just be the cynical side of me but with the timing of this, I smell shite. Jimmy Chinn in China hasn't just decided randomly the sale of these cells for use with e-cigarette products will be prohibited.

Was there not something similar to this put out by Sony? It went something along the lines of they did not intend for their batteries being used in Ecigs (after all they were mainly made for laptop power packs etc) and i think they came up with similar wording, basically absolving themselves of any blame if they were used in the likes of ecigs as they were not made for that purpose.
Nothings changed as far as i am aware, plus there have been some pretty good testing done in the vape community by folk that can test these batteries and report their true findings ( Mooch being one) so for me i am quite happy with my HG2's and other LG batteries that are in common use.

I think that they may just be legally covering their asses against misuse of their cells.... or that they have no confidence in their quality control.

I guess they are having to protect themselves just in case some fool tries something completely stupid ( ie saw a pic of a mech with a lot of the insulation off the battery and still using it, and wondered why it got hot quick ) and the lot goes up in his/her face.

As said above, Sony released a similar statement and now print a warning on their batteries. It's just a case of covering their backs

Expect to see that letter again and again and again every time someone questions if their LG cell is real or fake None of these cells were ever sold retail, they will keep selling them to industry who will keep selling on their excess stock.

I've seen a few sites where there is a 'for use in battery packs only' warning (though I can't remember which sites). I just assumed it was a back covering job.
