After some effort I got a couple of genesis style attys to work with mesh wicks, but never liked them that much. On the other hand I have a mesh wick in a Taifun clone, and, with the assistance of a bit of silica wick, it's one of my favourite flavour vapes. Also use a flash e vape style atty with cotton for the coil, and mesh as a feeder, this is also great. For my tastes, cotton is still generally the best, but it depends on the atty.... Would like to try mesh wick in a Squape style atty ....

IMO far superior flavour with mesh and ss rope, unfortunately I vape at too high power for this now, I topped out at about 40 W with gennies over that it gets too easy to get arching between the wick and coil, for me anyway. It was a big issue for me for a long time and I have only found one cotton tank that can satisfy me flavour wise and it is still not as good as ss rope and mesh, but the power handling has forced my move.

Beat the Kayfun, Rose, Ithaca etc for its ease of wicking, zero whistle and consistent vape quality every time imo.

I don't bother with mesh toppers over the rope these days; much easier for removal to clean!

Which ss rope is best to use? I normally have 2.5-3mm diameter coils, I looked on the vape mesh company & they said it was 8.5awg, not sure which to get?

I would get the largest that will fit the wick holes, I used to drill out wick holes to get larger rope in.

I have two Origens and a Le Zephr, with mesh, dedicated to tobaccos. Cotton mutes the flavour slightly, and gunks up too quick. I found big (3.5mm +) wicks work best for me. #200 outer and #200sf inner - wicks up to 70/30 just fine, but I like a touch more throat hit so use 65/35, or 60/40

I'm pretty settled with about 6 Origen drippers, all using 2x 2.5mm 1.0 ohm 26AG Nichrome coils, wicked with 2.5mm rope or with mesh. I've got other atties but nothing touches these ('part from the Origen 'Little 16' that I use with a squonker & ceramic wicks for a smoother vape...).

Mesh every time for me mate, or better still an SS Rope wick with a few wraps of mesh round the top under the coil. I find tobacco juices tastes a whole lot better this way, rather than cotton, and a whole lot less maintenance.

Yes same here, Unless its a center post genny, which is always mesh, its SS Rope and a few wraps of mesh under the coil.. best taste possible i think..especially on tobacco flavours...
