Hi all, Im Mike married 2 grown up kids live in Cheshire, been vaping around 6 months now and cig free for a few months. made the decision to stop and be cig free by the time im 50 (made it with a few months to spare!)30+ years 30-40 a day. I look back now with a shake of my head because the last time i tried a cig i nearly threw up . I also wanna take this opportunity to say to Frogster (The Alchemist) for the great advice I received thru email chat with my 1st order from the Alchemist Cupboard, i got a really long in depth reply which really helped so . Theres some cool stuff going on here forum games etc esp music one bringing up some nice memories I now dont throw away my isub coils after dry heaving/hitting them I now re-wick so thanks for that also. After quitting the cigs and seeing the look on me wifes face as the DIY decorating the house fund is going up icon_shoppingm {Sigh}. I wanted to start experimenting with DIY juice, and just my luck i happened to stumble on the perfect ratios of conc vg pg etc for my wifes I STICK 30W grrrrrrr. Which my 2 grown up kids thought was hilarious, until I suggested they go blow the wifes bubblegum flav ejuice out of somewhere else Tease-smiley . Funny thing is the perfect mix for her is 20% conc on the ISTICK 30W, but when i put it into my Cool Fire IV(who knew i sub ohmed i didnt to start with!) its a lot stronger flavor for me sometimes overpowering {Sigh}. So now in a dark corner theres 5 bottles of 10ml all diff % conc. from 18% -10% hopefully ill find my groove. I'm sticking to single flavors for now until i find something that i can ADV ill worry about flavors later. Then ill try and fail to re-create my all time fav e juice which was a parma violet variation of red astaire sadly not made anymore and hopefully stumble across one or two which i love on the journey. My wife suggested switching over to the ISTICK from my (2 i got a spare one ) Cool fire IV's but i said would be like trying to suck a whole raw cabbage thru a straw Im stuck on the cool fire now lol. Even tho my "smoking" cost down to 20 odd quid a week for 100ml and some weeks 100ml isnt quite enough, is that a lot i dunno? i guess it may be but compared to a minimum of 30+ cigs a day for 34 years ill take it and say thank you vaping gods for getting me off the cigs. I REALLY wanna crack the DIY for myself. So anyway thats a lil bit about me see you around the forum Regards Mike

Welcome Mike @sighs, good to see you participating in forum life and even better that you've kicked the 30+/day habit. Remember that you'll need to stock up on nicotine, now-ish, if you hope to continue experimenting with DIY. Soon nicotine base as we know it won't be available above 20mg/ml and 10ml bottle size, due to the TPD. (Many people here are storing in their freezers 5 or more years of 72mg/ml nicotine base in their freezers). Dave

Congrats on kicking the smokes, @sighs . Feels good, doesn't it? I'm fairly new around here myself but have been vaping for around three years. I still remember very well that sense of achievement in making those first few days and weeks without touching a cigarette. One suggestion I'd offer is to ensure you have a backup or two of your main equipment (battery and topper of choice) whatever they are ... just in case. Ya don't want something breaking or going wrong and leaving you in the lurch. DIY you say? I think you'll find some rather keen DIY Juice mixers around these parts who'll be glad to help with any questions you may have. If you are leaning that way, then I'd recommend you check the comments Postmodern Smoking made a couple of posts up about stocking up on nicotine base. Rules are changing and it may not be so easy to obtain stocks in the future. Welcome and enjoy your time here.

Welcome @sighs Well done for your achievement in getting off all them stinkies. I myself was on 30 B&H 5 years ago but I'll be vaping forever now. 100ml a week I'd say is fine as I easy double that sub ohming at 100w. Flavours are great to explore and make. Personally I'm not very artistic in putting recipes together so I find top rated mixes and try them with varying results for my tastes. I then tweak them if I taste potential. I usually find I need to add more flavour as I'm a greedy flavour junky lol. Anyway keep it up and enjoy the craic here my friend

Welcome @sighs
Yup... DIY is the way forward. Sadly, even though some 'customer friendly' vendors are hoping to sell us 10ml for not too much money, my fear is that the likes of tobacco companies are looking to hijack the market and gradually up the prices ASAP.
So, maybe we'll all be able to buy 3 x 10ml bottles (30ml) of something nice for £10-£15, or maybe it'll be 10ml for £9.99 e-liquid within a few months of the zombie apocalypse.
What of course is really upsetting (if you care about money) is that some of us are making 100ml for £3-£6 already (sometimes even cheaper, depending on products). 10ml for £9.99 is not really do-able i.m.o.
I have 8 years-worth of Nicotine base, so the tobacco companies and greedy vaping companies (those already charging £6.99 for 50 pence worth of juice) can do one and never come back.
e-liquid was perhaps rightfully £4.99 in 2011. Nowadays... it should be less, given the economies of scale but watch this space... I can see it being more expensive soon enough.
