Hey,
I'm aware that as of 20th November 2016 (Next Sunday) limitations regarding bottle sizes, strength and tank specifications come in to force in the UK. I'm also aware that anyone who still has stock that doesn't comply with the TPD after 20th November can still be sold until 20th May 2017.
What I'm now wondering is will it affect imports?
I've never had trouble getting anything from overseas before although I have had a few 'custom violation' stickers put on packages mainly containing batteries but with the TPD could it be possible that they'll refuse imports on tanks etc that violate the TPD or possibly start charging import duties.

I suppose technically the supplier will be breaching the regulations by sending non compliant tanks etc, but in reality I doubt there will be any issues. Unless they open all the packages coming in from china they have little to no chance of stopping them. Mods batteries etc are not part of TPD, so it's only tanks and juice.

My personal observation is - does HMRC really have the resources available to scrutinise every parcel that comes through from China given their talent for ' creative ' labeling, in the hope of finding a tank over 2ml. I would have thought that Custom Officer's have far more important searches to be spending their time on myself. But no one really knows how the TPD is going to affect imports after May 20th 2017 amygx . . . . doubtless there will be much speculation on the subject over the coming months - but there's no definitive answer to be had as yet.

So, if a retailer bought a huge stock of 30-50-100ml bottles of juice (say, from the USA) on 19/11, they would still be able to sell them until 20/5 regardless of the size of the bottles?
But juice manufacturers (rather than just retailers) in the UK have to do 10ml bottles only from 19/11?

They have to be part of their existing stocks is my understanding, how an order ' in transit ' would be viewed, depends whether the rules are interpreted as book or physical stock. But juice manufacturers (rather than just retailers) in the UK have to do 10ml bottles only from 19/11? Yes and no, if they've already got stocks made to sell through - then it will be legal to do so until 20th May 2017. Again, it's judging how much can be realistically sold in the period. ( Rejuiced for example have I think been supplying 30ml ( or whatever volume is bought ) in 10ml bottles for a while now. )

I've noticed that some UK juice vendors (Manabush for example) have started giving discounts if you buy three 10ml bottles, bringing the price down closer to their 30ml bottles. Must be difficult for these guys - they don't want to be left with a shed load of 30ml bottles come May 2017.

Whilst I do feel sorry for "quality" retailers like Manabush, I certainly have less sympathy for the less scrupulous retailers who have had a great time opportunistically knocking out "premium" juice at 15-25 quid + for 30ml when we can DIY 100ml for about 6 quid..... (My Korean laptop doesn't have a Pound sign )
