Hi all.
As title, im new to the site and to the world of vaping.
Unfortunately I've recently (4-5 months ago) started back smoking tabacco and im on no more than 5-10 a day. So to try and stop myself going right back into old habits of smoking 15+ a day, i decided to try vaping. I asked a friend at work for advice on what type of kit to start off with. He advised me to get a Smok Alien Kit (with batteries) and to use a Innokin Prism T18 (mouth to lung) tank. As for the e-juice, he advised me to start off on 12mg nicotine with 50%PG and 50%VG. Not knowing any better, i ordered it all on-line.
When i got the kit, my friend helped me to set it up and set the Wattage to 14W. All was good at first, but a few days later, i found that i was getting too much of a rough feeling at the back of my throat and it wasn't a nice experience that i was expecting. After watching some youtube vids, i realised that the it was the nicotine percentage was too high for me. So i ordered some 6mg e-juice with the same PG & VG and it is a much better vaping experience.
At first i wasn't interested in trying to get the biggest cloud etc. like some of my friends. It was all about trying to quit smoking, and still is. But now i would like to try it and to utilise the Smok TFV8 Baby tank that came with the Alien kit and to use it when im at home and use the T18 tank when im at work. But for the life of me, i can not find out what percentage of PG vs VG e-juice i should use.
So my question is, what type of e-juice would you recommend i use for the Alien kit, which comes with a Q2 core (0.4Ω dual coils) and a T8 core (0.15Ω octuple coils) and to what Wattage to set it at?
thanks 👍🍺

Hi and welcome oldgit9 I don't blow a lot of clouds or go very sub-ohm myself, so will leave others to advise. Note that higher VG tends to have less "throat hit" (which may, by the sound of things been an issue for you), but too high tends to make me "flemmy" so you may have to experiment with different ratio's. (VG creates more vapour than PG, but doesn't carry flavour as well)

Try a 70/30 VG/PG ratio that should give you nice thick dense clouds and that tank should be able to keep up with wicking fine. There should be a wattage range etched somewhere on the side of the coil.
From what i found online the Q2 Core is rated for 55-65W i would start at 45W to break the coil in and increase it a little at a time until you hit your sweetspot.
The T8 is rated at 50-110W again start at the low end and work your way up until you hit a point that suits.
