...No more dubious rhyme attempts, promise!! ) Inspired by the Biblical-length 'Rayon' thread over on ECF, & the fact that all of 'em that try it get 'converted'...thought that it was over-due that I tried some!! I know I bang on about only vaping NETs ('like a stuck record'...!) but mention it (yet) again just so's people understand that for Me, cotton is totally impractical..... ....So....added a little (very little! ) bag of Fiber Freaks to the last FT order (Yes, I know £!..) which arrived today. Using it atm in My Magma & so far, so good. It's the longevity that I'm really testing I suppose.....if it clogs as quick as the cotton then that'll be the end of the experiment! (I realised today just how quickly I've lost the knack of installing horizontal coils & stuffing 'em with something fluffy! Either that, or I did n't ever have it in the 1st place!!!) Anyone else switched to Rayon?

Interesting re. the 'twang':- I 1st coiled & wicked a little Anima FT clone (new toy!..) & also got an 'off' taste. After shorting the coil when putting the cap back on...(alright, Duh...but there ain't a lot of room there!..) ...I decided to re-wick the semi-retired Magma (much more room & bigger coils!!). I reckon the off taste was due to not having enough Rayon in the coils....the advice on ECF was to pack as much in as poss. because, unlike cotton, it doesn't swell when wet, & even a slight gap 'twixt coil & wick results in coil wraps burning. I think this holds up as after nearly 2hrs. use, the wicks in the Magma are n't showing any darkened areas, whilst the (short-lived..) Anima wick was decidedly dark going into the coil.... Again, so far, so good.......

I've tried different cotton pads and recently tried Fiber Freaks Original and Cotton Blend but I always go back to Celucotton Rayon as, for me at least, it gives the cleanest taste.

For the last 3years I have used mujji cotton and loved it no probs apart from learning curve of attys etc. On a whim I ordered some celucotton at the mo its in my mini serpent and its just singing, seems to me to be fresher and cleaner not by much but def cleaner.

I tried celucotton last year, it was a refreshing change to organic cotton. Some juices seemed to taste better, tank wicks seemed to last longer. I didn't like it in drippers, no matter how they were wicked it was quite crackly and just didn't seem to be giving the same flavour as cotton. Also I didn't like the amount of loose fibre that came off it when it was cut.
At the time I was quite taken by rayon and would have brought more but there was almost nowhere to buy it from in more than one meter lengths.

I thought I had a good buy on the rayon - I ordered cellucotton - only to get it and realise it wasn't rayon but just normal cotton - so when ordering Cellucotton rayon make sure you order the right stuff my favourite for cheapest is cotton wool balls unravelled - cheap as chips, get anywhere!

I think it was July/August last year and quite literally there was none available anywhere, even CdV had gone on holiday.

I use Rayon all the time. Hate the first tank full, aftertaste is yuk. But once the aftertaste has gone it's great. I didn't get on with cotton, kept putting too much in the coil, so Rayon suits me well

Rayon? Never tried it. But I saw a long discussion of a fairly cheap and easy to obtain source of good quality rayon suitable for Vape wicks a while ago. Some brands of Tampons (yep!) are made from pure high quality rayon. Not the outer wrapping, just the inner absorbent section. I've never seen the stuff but apparently it's fairly simple to remove the cover then unwrap/unroll the rayon and split it up for wicking. I saw the discussion on an Oz Vaping site: Oz Forum LinkBut watch out for the RIGHT brand/type ... In OZ, the specific brand/Type is given here: Oz forum link I'm guessing there must be something similar there in the UK. * Perpetua I hope it's OK to cross link to a foreign forum but if not please kill the links.
