That wont stop them They will be using automated software with hundreds of email addresses and just as many proxy ip's
As well as email verification, you will need some kind of captcha system The best ones to use are questions and answer type and the more questions and answers to rotate through, the better
Blocking ip's is a pissing in the wind exercise I'm an ex internet marketer and in the past, I used to post 100,000 links a day using automated software
Oh so it's somebody naughty like you then ay Happens all the time, it's just part of looking after/moderating on a forum - keeping it ' safe ' as possible for genuine members to use. Bitterness doesn't really come into the equation.

It's also not a problem unique to the UK/EU either. It's a global headache.

Indeed it is and whilst automated systems & captcha can help that tends to only weed out the novices it will not stop the professional spammers or motivated individuals Chrissie Perpetua and myself are daily dealing with numerous attempts at sign up's here from all kinds of undesirables, these days spambots are easier to spot so the spammers have instead switched to using real people and real peoples cloned emails so that requires a lot more work on our part to sort the genuine new member from the spammer etc. Running and moderating a forum involves a lot of work behind the scenes - the more successful the forum the more work it takes.
