That's The "Internet of Things" (connecting your home WiFi to countless bits of tech like your heating that don't really "need" it with pish poor security, cars are next and loads will be vulnerable to being hacked) This one is just "why" on so many levels. www.theregister.co.uk/2017/04/04/intimate_adult_toy_fails_penetration_test/ ETA there's a video, not adult just a quick overview how easy it is to find one and hack it

This is one issue I'm highly unlikely to have VapingBad . . . . . also on many levels! Bit OTT some of this techie stuff to an old trout like me, a customer the other day paid for his shopping using his Apple watch - I'm still mourning the virtual demise of cheques!

Our Bank is changing over to Post Office Counter service. I guess that will signal the end of Branch Offices. As it is, our local bank only opens 2 days a week!

Because no business gives away a fundamental part of its core business without there being a detrimental consequence to its customers.

Indeed. Why? I think the proponents of the "IOT" (Internet of Things) come from the same group of Tech Advocates who, some years ago, claimed that Computer Tech would result in "paperless offices". Even at the time that claim seemed very far fetched. If you tech advocates really wanna work on something we buyers actually want rather than what you think we need, then I'm still waiting on the personal flying cars you guys promised me so long ago. If you still cannot manage that, then I'll settle for one of those Hoverboards from "Back To The Future".

Privacy is dead. Very soon you'll read posts on forums (not here of course) along the lines of 'saw you with the girlfriend in the kitchen last night, wouldn't have thought that your toaster had such a good lens, hit counter and zoom'.

Isn't that the truth in this technological age we live in! This is what a work colleague/friend received and openly posted yesterday, fortunately she saw the funny side of it . . . . . . " Ha ha ha!!! My daughter has just sent me this. So I go out for an evening stroll with Reuben and I walk past some boys, unbeknown to me, they know I am ******'s Mum and they send her this photo of me!!! 😂😂😂. I am flattered even if they are only 15!!! 😂😂😂 Made my day!!! "

It's a sign of the times VapingBad that all the manufactures want to be cool ... and edgy ... and 'I know ! Lets have our products connect to the internet !' without thinking things through. I'm just surprised they didn't get the Aga to automatically post to Facebook and Twitter to let everyone know that 'I've just turned my oven on without even being there - how cool am I {gushy smiley face}'

Yeah, but no, yeah but
Arg customers, expensive back to basics - no digital controls or OLED, LCD or LED readouts, I don't think they even have a timer. (I know it can power your central heating/hot water, but in that case I would think it would plug into the system as if it were a boiler)
I doubt it will change a buy or not decision, a couple of percent max.

I agree it's getting stupid, and I'm a techie!! Some of the "home"-type stuff can have a perfectly legit use for assisted living and the like, but no need for it to flood everywhere for the sake of it.... I don't even want a Smart Dumb Meter for my gaz and leccie (and that was before the very stupid, dumbed-down advertising campaign )

I'm due to get so called smart meters fitted next week and the only reason I agreed to it was, as a shift worker, I'm fed up getting chapped up out my bed so they can read the meters - I need my sleep

That won't stop the dreaded marketing department pushing it like crazy though
The one I would like to see is for the owners of the older more traditional Agas 'Ive just texted a man to go round and chop some wood, take it into the house, light a fire and tend it, and put my dinner in the oven'
