Don't forget, if you've any stashed away that tomorrow is the last day that they can be accepted as legal tender! Although banks will still exchange them. www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-39792170

Interestingly... there are a reputed 1.5 million unaccounted for.
But what I really wanted to ask is this;
How long will you be able to exchange the £1 coin at a bank for? I know the deadline for legal tender-ness (ooh, is that a word?) but I can't find a deadline about exchange.
My Piggybank wants to know. He gets very angry on most Saturday mornings.

Well The Sun doesn't know either . . . . which is strange! www.thesun.co.uk/money/2132666/new-one-pound-coin-size-12-sides-old-1-defects/Other than to say " You may also be able to exchange them at the bank or Post Office if you hold an account there. But again, it’s best to check ahead of time. " . . . . . better get counting Dave!

" . . . . . better get counting Dave!I've counted. There are 17. It's the 486 x 20p's that are upsetting me. You see, being a man of means (in my own lunchtime) I have gradually refused to leave the house with too-small change. It used to be 1s and 2s but soon graduated onto 5s and 10s. Recently I took umbrage with 20s as they are the wrong shape and stick to my eVic mini VTC (trademark appreciated). I have become overrun with coins and other than developing a frightening addiction to the waterfall coin machines at the sea-side, I may be forced to do something rash with them... I was thinking about an epic "act of random kindness"...

Fortunately our key fob machine at work for the vending doodahs takes them, so they get evicted pretty sharpish . . . . . although it's only just been upgraded to the new fivers, new pound coins are an aspiration at this time. Most of the other shrapnel gets lobbed into charity collections as I go along . . . . so I'm sure a random act of kindness would be much appreciated by some deserving cause.

I had a few £10 & £5 notes stashed away which were left over from my last visit to the UK several years ago, and only just heard about the £5 notes plus the £10 notes disappearing soon also, so I've now gone to a currency exchange booth and changed them all up for euros. I reckon I'd have been stuck with them if I'd left it much longer
