For the past four years I've been getting my juice (menthol and tobacco flavoured) from my supplier and have never had a problem. The mix is 60pg/40vg. For the past three months however I have been suffering from itching and sinus problems. During those three months - not knowing why I was getting the itching etc, I changed the washing powder we use, my shower gel, the bedding and so on in order to see what was causing it. This morning it suddenly occurred to me that it could be my ecig juice, so I contacted my supplier and discovered that they had altered my 60/40 mix to 50/50, saying that due to the new regulations coming in they could only make juice in a 50/50 mix. Sorry about the long story here but what I'm after is if anyone has any information as to where I can get juice in a 60/40 mix, even if it's from abroad. I'd be most grateful for any info anyone can give me as it seems the switch in mixes from 60/40 to 50/50 is causing me a lot of problems. Thank you to anyone who can help.

As far as I can ascertain there are no restrictions in the TPD as to the percentage of VG/PG allowed in pre-mixed juices, only the bottle size and nicotine content.

Yes as sydsut says, that's the first I've heard about pg/vg ratios being affected

You have my sympathy davess, a PG sensitivity or intolerance is very pesky! It's something we've encountered less of with the trend of higher VG mixes due to subohming. I think your current supplier has chosen to be a little ' creative ' in their explanation to you, as PG/VG blends aren't affected by the TPD as sydsut has said. If you broaden your selection to any eliquid over a 50/50 mix, then you'd have plenty of choice . . . . or even consider DIY where you can tailor a blend to suit your individual requirements.

In your original post, did you mean to put 60/40 PG/VG? If so, they have increased the VG by moving to 50/50...
Do they do concentrate? If you went DIY you could dial in your own ratio, maybe even play with aqueous VG...

Don't manufacturers have to pay to get each different ratio tested as well as different flavours/strengths?
60:40 either way is pretty darn close to 50:50 and most, but sadly not all, people won't notice much of a difference, so the TPD could be a reason for only producing 50:50, it might just be the explanation that was a little wonky.

Yes such a small change seems neither here nor there, and I'm as surprised as everybody that it's caused so much of a problem. If I go down the DIY route, is it difficult to do? And what exactly would I need? I'm aware I haven't got much time to get what I need, but my supplier does sell the DIY stuff.

davess, from a product view, you need nic, plus VG and PG - all available from Darkstar. You also need flavourings. From a equipment view, some syringes, some empty bottles, scales (if mixing by weight) - lab coat and wild hair optional... It's really straightforward, if you can make toast, you can make juice... see the mixology section.

Thanks pipeman, and everybody else for your information and interest. It really is much appreciated. I'll get cracking now and order some stuff, and hope I don't poison myself

If considering DIY-ing... your priority will be to get some 72mg/ml nicotine while you still can (after 19th May it'll only be available in 10ml bottles and <20mg/ml strength ).... everything else will still be available.

I use 1.8 strength juice, will I still be able to make that. As you can see I haven't got a clue about DIY.

yes, get 72ml/l nic... I vape at 0.6 (1/3rd of your strength) and dilute.. there are tools and advice aplenty to help... but as mentioned, after next Friday nic will become a problem... buy 2-3 liters if you can afford it

Yes... the 72mg/ml (7.2%) will be diluted down to your 18mg/ml (1.8%) with PG, VG and flavouring. There are online DIY mixing calculators that allow you to input what mix you want to make and the tells you the amount of each ingredient that is required. Also, if unsure, and while learning, you can post in the Mixology section and we will tell you what to throw together.
