I got one of these from 3F Vape when it was on pre-order for $21.99. Looks nice, Huh? Trouble is it is the most badly designed and potentially dangerous mech I have seen in a long time. Did not know where to start so I did a picture: I would avoid this like the plague, Boxers, Frankenskulls, Coppervapes, Picos and Dripboxes are all so much better...

This is a shame its such a handsome mod. Technicaly tho, anodising should be non conductive if done correctly (personally not sure Id be willing to trust the china stuff). The sparks will be caused by a bad battery conection, the 2 little bumps in the strip will give little if any contact with the battery. If you want a desecnt 510 putting in it Id be willing to do it for ya if you cant do it ya self.

Really kind of you to offer phtumshk, much appreciated, but it would take a whole lot more than a decent 510 to put this right. The main problem is how the whole firing setup works from battery connector to button. I may get around to thinking of some workarounds, but at the moment I'm too peed off with myself for getting a mod without checking the internals first, especially a mech. I should know better!

Ive just been looking on the face book page of the original it looks like theyve updated the 510 to something better than the FD v5. Looks like the shorter throw on the button woulld fix any sticking button issues.

I'd consider insulating the button to positive contact too, well I will when mine arrives from ft (got a new MM510 and a few other bits coming from modmaker too)

Like the look of it, but don't trust it. Any chance of bringing yours along to Vapefest dagl to let us have a wee look at it. ?

Thanks Edge and phtumshk, the Fastech modifications look do-able (though straightening that strip could be a pain), reducing the travel on the firing button will work, I think. I see they have 510 squonk connecters over at Modmaker and Stealth Vape, any ideas on where I might get the Frankenskull style 510?

Id suggest the modmaker 510 it might work (will deffinetly reduce the throw of the switch)with out the need to straighten the positive strip as it has the extra wide brass bit on the bottom of the 510 specificaly for mechs. But be aware the MM510 is a 12mm thread and your box/neg strip will need to be drilled/filed out to suit.

I've got a redundant Frankie clone I can drop in the post to ya, if you wanna rob anything out of it.

I pulled out of buying one from Fasttech. For exactly the reasons you cite. I'd still be interested in one to put a switchfet and wire into...
