Having read around a little, it does seem as if the 'conversion' to 8ml is kind of deliberate. Some vendors are offering "add 8ml cartridge" option. None of this surprises me and I am thankful for the right people doing the right thinking. ... not so sure about the 72mg base liquid on sale on ebay... but never mind....

djs and anyone else interested in picking up a Penguin. HC have a 20% discount promotion just started, $50 qualifying spend excluding clearance items and ends on August 6 (-0500GMT) . . . . . so it might be worth doing the comparison sums. www.healthcabin.net/joyetech-atopack-penguin-c/1207_2517.html( They mark all their parcels at $15 value as standard and to save them contacting, I request on the order comments section that all Joytech branding stickers are removed. )

djs you are a very bad man I've been a bit smug about only having bought nothing new, except a Nautilus 2, for over a year. Had to go into Southampton yesterday and passing the TW franchise I was drawn in just to find out what a Penguin felt like in the hand. I came out with a blackun and 2 packs of .6 coils. Silicone block removed, coil primed, cartridge filled. Left to stand, vaped - very nice until burnt taste. I'd been told they take a lot of priming. New coil juiced until it was running out of the wicking. Been using it a lot:- flavour is OK, more vapour than I like and it's warmer. I got it to see if I can recommend it to the vapers who moan about the capacity of the tanks I suggest they use. I'll get a couple of cartridges, from FT, so I can pass it round for them to try. Took a coil apart and there's no way I'll be recoiling them.

Did you take any pictures? Sorry no pix The wife uses the .6Ω coils Inside a stock coil is the wire. Appears to be 26AWG/.4. NR-R-NR, about 5 wraps of R wire and a wrap or two of NR on each end, keeping the coil centered in the ceramic housing/wick "tube". The wick is cotton cloth (?), two strips 8mm wide by approx 90mm in length. ADD: Source HEREI've recoiled a few. Fun to play with, but have a back up or two. Wicking is hard to get right and I CBA to make NR-R-NR coils, I use 6 wraps @ 2.5mm of .4 /SS316 on . After a few cycles of dis-assembly/reassembly, I have had two housings fail from the electrical connection getting severed due to metal fatigue/over enthusiasm. I have not given up yet, but my results are far from consistent/successful. Cheers I ETA: Penguin SE (V2) announced!

2 coils down & both burnt. First was definitely user error - inadequate priming. Second coil possible user error - may have let liquid get too low.
Anyone else having burning problems?
Will have a go at rewicking one.

Will have a go at rewicking one. I can't help thinking maybe the Penguin has similar issues to the eGo AIO. The AIO was sometimes unloved by people once it started to become obvious that the 0.6ohm coils would often burn out on a fresh battery. The 0.6ohm coils are my favourite but I use them in a Cubis, starting them off down at 14w or so. The Penguin uses 0.6ohm coils (well, that's the MTL option, supposedly) but the battery is either set to 3.7v or at 4.2v (?) when fully charged. Maybe it's the same problem?

No problems so far, although I'm still on the first original 0.6 coil out of the box. I primed it before first use, filled up the tank and let it sit for ten minutes. I've filled it three times since and had no problems. I also have the ego aio and never had any problems with that either, maybe I've been lucky. I have removed the plug from the tank and I remember reading somewhere that the 2ml version of the tank maybe the reason for getting dry and burnt hits, don't know if that's the answer or not! It's been brilliant so far and long may it continue, but I see there may be an updated version coming out, with a window on the outside of the device so you can always see your juice level, which may help.

I have just ordered one from fasttech. It will be interesting to see if they send out the 8.8ml tank... As that's what I ordered.. Is the restrictions only for buying from a shop or wedsite based in this country.. .? They reviews look good, as I've watched a lot of the YouTube videos and only one that didn't like it but he did put in a flavour he hadn't tryed before( peanut butter). The coils are cheep and if they do last as long at reviews that would be great...
