Does anyone know how long it takes to get an appointment to get a passport renewed using the one day service?
Trying to book a mini break for the second week of June & have just realised my passport is out of date :-[

You should have enough time to just send it by the post office using their 'checking it's all in order service' Pop into your local main PO and ask

Copied and pasted from direct gov website:
Time taken: a guide for normal applications The time it takes to process a passport application depends on: how busy IPS is - April to September is the busiest time which service you use whether your application is completed correctly whether you provide the correct documents whether IPS needs to contact the person who countersigned your application
Using the Check & Send service will: take a minimum of two weeks (not guaranteed) but you should allow more time in case IPS needs to contact you or a countersignatory for extra information help you reduce errors but remember IPS may still need to contact you for more information Using the post: will take a minimum of three weeks (not guaranteed) but you should allow more time in case IPS needs to contact you or a countersignatory for extra information you should consider using Check & Send as it will help you reduce errors, but remember IPS may still need to contact you for more information

The cost of renewing an adult passport To renew an adult ten-year 32-page passport costs: £77.50 for the standard service £112.50 for the one-week Fast Track Service £129.50 for the one-day Premium service If you were born on or before 2 September 1929, your passport is free of charge. However, you will need to pay the extra fee for Fast Track or Premium services if you use them. You can find detailed information in the section 'Passport fees, how long it takes and urgent passport applications'. www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Passports/Renewingorextendingyourpassport/DG_174097

If you pay for the post office to check it they come back really quickly.

Urgent applications If you need a passport within two weeks you should use the IPS Fast Track one-week service or the Premium one-day service. These services are by appointment only – call the Passport Adviceline 0300 222 0000.

Good advice from Anne If you already hold a passport and the PO have 'checked' your renewal it should cut the time down Not sure if I would be comfortable booking tho without my pasport being renewed ??? Note to self..... check passports before we go on hol to Spain in October

Thanks njk.
I have already checked out the direct.gov website.
I'm just trying to decide whether to just book my trip now & hope for the best, or wait till the passport comes back.
Only problem is getting a good deal when it comes to booking.

My daughter has just renewed hers and paid to have it checked at the PO, it was back within a week Hissie.
I think you will be fine to get it done by that way.

just to add that the passport agency have time guidelines in place- providing that the photo is acceptable and it's just a renewal, they're pretty much spot on with delivering within two weeks. best to get the check and send service through the post office, worth the extra peace of mind it gives.

Well I have booked the hotel lol. Luckily it is free cancellation. So if the worst happens, I won't get charged for the hotel.
Will hopefully be able to book flights tomorrow.
Wonder what the vaping situation is in Poland & on the plane. Looks like I will be travelling via Ryanair. Haven't got a clue what this company is like, only ever flown using BA.
