Prime comes into it own really if you buy lots of stuff and want it quickly. I think it's great but then I order lots of stuff and want it quickly Generally speaking items you buy with prime you can get a little cheaper from non prime sellers. There's other benefits like to and music but the quick delivery service does it for me especially as I live in the sticks. I know I still can't quite believe that I can order something at 9 o'clock at night and still get it next day less than 24 hours later it's amazing ! Wait till the drones take off, literally

Well, well RafflesI got caught up in this today as well. I went on the Amazon site to complete my purchase, followed the Amazon direction very carefully and then it happened. Basically, they have deliberately and unashamedly set up a 'click' which instantly without agreeing to T&Cs signs you up to Prime. I saw a button - it was BLUE on the top and YELLOW underneath. Blue says "complete with Prime" and Yellow says "Checkout as normal (or similar)".... So I clicked yellow and that was that. It is a con and a fix. I call it what it is.... an absolute disgrace. Needless to say, I followed the instructions to cancel my Prime trial and f.w.i.w. I have instructed HSBC to never, ever pay them. All my cards will be removed and they will not be getting my business again. So - why am I so pissed off? Because when I move house, I wanted to trial Prime instead of LoveFilm, since they are ending LoveFilm. No chance of that now. Overreaction? - not in my opinion. They are crooks. To deliberately trick customers into this is not acceptable - but who are you going to complain to? Nobody. HSBC will back me up, as they always do. I feel safe enough my £79 is not going into their pockets.

Yeah you get the tv with it. And we have used the prime delivery god knows how many tines now. Always been next day even if ordered late evening day before. I might get overruled at home very soon and have to give in to buy a TV. So what's on that Amazon TV? Other than on demand are there TV channels as well?

Have just been on to Amazon to re-order some Nautilus coils, plus a few other items to bring it up to £20+ for free shipping. Total came to £30, and in the checkout process, up came the Prime offer. Clicked on 'remind me later' but come the checkout I found that I had started my 'free trial'. Was going to cancel everything, but after a few minutes of contemplation and a refill of my glass, I decided to let it go as a test of if they could get 4 different suppliers to get me my order tomorrow. Anyone had good or bad experiences with their Prime service... is it worth it? I got caught like this and ended up keeping it, must admit, I've not regretted it for the speed of delivery alone - have not used the TV service much, but when I have it's been excellent. Great for last minute gifts and stuff like batteries.

Thanks for the link. So it's all films and TV series. The way it looks most are rather lame. Then again I don't know anything about TV.

Blue says "complete with Prime" and Yellow says "Checkout as normal (or similar)".... So I clicked yellow and that was that. It is a con and a fix. I call it what it is.... an absolute disgrace. Well, I often use Amazon, both the UK one and the Spanish one, both of which would have a hell of a job getting a delivery to me the next day!!!! Even the Spanish one can take a good 10 days or more to reach me when I tick the box for global express of 3-5 days, the UK one can take anything up to 3 weeks for goods to arrive. So if either of these Amazons make me sign up for Prime like you say they are doing I think I have good reason for contacting them to cancel the prime and to get my money back, as it is absolutely impossible for me to get next day deliveries!!!! By the way, the reason I use both the UK and the Spanish one is that you can't always get the same goods on both (believe it or not) and the prices can differ enormously for the same item, so I always compare one with the other.

my nephew has an Amazon prime account, he uses it to buy pretty much everything bar food and clothing I showed a suitable level of distrain for paying a subscription fee but a couple of times I've sent him a link to an urgent product in the evening and its been there by 9am the next day.

I am now in communication with them. (Finally.. ) After an uninvited package was delivered to my door, I decided enough is enough. This is what they had to say about the 'default' Prime subscription on checkout.

djs - Apart from, as probably expected, a mildly illiterate response.....the last paragraph suggests Amazon was set up for a surreptitious, automatic Prime membership - whereas paragraph 1 says "we didn't expect this to happen"? Probably to be expected from a bunch of tax dodging, staff mistreating, zero hours contract scrotes
