Thanks striker42 and decoy - I'll try the 5 wraps of SS316 on my usual 3mm ID first! I will get hold of some .5mm Ni80 for future experimentation. Out of interest, and to educate me a little more, why shouldn't I use Ni200 on a mech mod?

to the squonking fraternity chykensa. I like the idea of 'accidentally' walking into a vape shop (always looking for new excuses to justify buying vape gear)! I actually had to drive up a narrow lane for almost half a mile to get there too! Calculated to make accidents quite difficult actually

Out of interest, and to educate me a little more, why shouldn't I use Ni200 on a mech mod? You can but you need a coil with about 18wraps to get to a safe ohm suitable for mech vaping. Its more suited to TC with the super low ohms.

Well, here it is. I have waited until my wife has gone out so as not to arouse her suspicions, charged up the battery, built a 6 wrap SS coil, installed and wicked. Filled up the bottle with some Blackcurrant Tunes mixture, and off we go - SO EASY!!!

That looks a real nice set up there chykensa . Be muchly appreciated if you could share you're thoughts on the Pulse atty. I've got the 22mm version which I 've been using this week. Just wondering if the 24mm version is good with a single coil or if it really needs a dual coil in there to get the best from it. Either way, hope you are enjoying the squonk factor.
Edit: Off to see who has this in stock at a reasonable price.

Would have really liked it in black but they were OOS. I think I need more oomph from my coil so hoping my new wire will arrive tomorrow - might have a play with some Kanthal and dual coil it this evening.

I'll take some more photos in a few minutes striker42, of both the mod and the atty. Quite enjoying the experience so far, although the flavour is a bit muted. I think this is down to the wrong coil as much as anything else.

2x 5 wraps of the 0.45 should come in around 0.2/0.3 ohms and kick like a mule but it will eat batts only prob with mechs is you have to find the sweet spot by building the coil to the right ohms and you cant just ramp up the watts tiss a rather nice looking bit of kit and these mech swonkers are so ruddy small im going to have to try some of this n80 stuffs but ive got that many diff wire types now its getting beyond a joke lol

Nice, chykensa , I like the clear picture of the internals - it all looks very solid to me. This is subjective, but I find that SS can mute the flavour a bit at first, but then it comes into it's own after a tanks worth or two - it seems to take more time to 'bed in' that than Kanthal or Ni80. Never have this with either SS Claptons or Kanthal Claptons, though. Overall, I think that a good squonk setup always has the edge on even the best flavour tanks.

beedee - that's interesting, even with dual coils the atomiser is only now starting to bring out the juice flavour (I've now changed to Darkstar's Code Red which is rather nice). I'm hoping that I'll have some Ni80 in the next few days and will look forward to some experimentation with that. Although I used mech mods exclusively a few years ago, I need to reaccquaint myself with Ohms Law and how low to build as I have no protection again
