Must admit, chykensa, I find what I prefer shifts a lot. For instance for a long time I could not get along with Claptons, especially in Mechs, then suddenly I found I really liked a 4-5 wrap single coil, and used nothing else for awhile. I also went through a phase of only squonking with single coil builds on 18mm attys, then I got the Orage RDA, which is 24mm and only does dual coils, and I'm loving it with a straightforward kanthal build. I also went through a mech/dripping only phase for at home vaping - have always had a tank for carry around, though. I even went through a little 4 coil episode - still use some nice 4 coil builds in mechs. In the meantime I've collected around 30 different wires (the latest one on the way from Fastech is a Ni80 Clapton) and just about every wicking material there is - though I always go back to cotton puffs. I thought I was searching for my ideal vape, but now I've just settled into doing lots of different things and enjoying them all (well, most, some have been pretty dire...!)

Right folks, time for an update and a question. First, the update. I've been using the Pulse mod with the Pulse 24 atty on for about 4 days now, and although not exculsively, here are some points which new or prospective squonkers might find useful. First, battery life and stuff. This is my first experience with a 20700 battery and I must say I'm pleasantly surprised at the battery life - so much so that i haven't yet noticed a drop in power towards the end of the charge. I received another similar battery from Fogstar today, meaning I can now more confidently take the mod out for a day safe in the knowledge that I have a spare fresh battery to swop over with. As this is a mechanical mod, there is no facility to adjust the voltage/wattage, and you have to build your coil(s) to the battery. I have experimented with dual SS coils and now a Ni80 single coil as suggested by striker42 - more on this subject later! The practicalities. Swopping batteries and also refilling and refitting the 8ml juice bottle has been surprisingly lacking in drama. I did end up with juice on my fingers due to overfilling the bottle, but it all fits in easily and just, well, works. Having the little switch inside which breaks the electrical circuit is great peace of mind when pocketing the mod, which incidentally doesn't leak AT ALL (well, not so far, anyway!). The mod and atty are well constructed as far as I can see, and work really well. The fire button recesses quite a long way, but contact is made well before this point, so I just listen for the crackle of the coils. The battery (especially the 20700) is a very snug fit, and I am watching the wrap very carefully to make sure this isn't suffering any damage. All in all, I am delighted with my purchase, but am feeling that the vape I'm getting is not all that I would expect. This begs the question; what dual coil setup can I build that is within the safety limits of my batteries but will delivery a warm flavoursome vape? I have tried dual coil SS .45mm 3mmID 5 wrap coils, and these weren't bad, and the single NI80 5 wrap is sort of OK, but I'm getting a muted flavour from juice which usually delivers well. Any suggestions for builds which I can try which will sort out this last problem for me please!?

Thanks for the detailed info, chykensa - never tried a 20700 so you have piqued my interest. Odd that you have muted flavour - never tried the pulse but on this style of airflow, where you have the coil in relation to the airflow can be a factor, in similar attys I have mine very close to the airflow and slightly above it, something else to investigate anyway...

Thanks beedee, I am currently running 2 x 9 wrap Kanthal .5mm 3mm ID coils, and things are a little better. I will experiment with the next build raising the coils up into the direct line of the airflow to see if that affects things. I think I could probably lose a couple of wraps off these coils too and still be within the battery's limits.
