What's happened to the Mini Nautilus. I remember when I first tried one 3 years ago the flavour and draw was amazing. I still chuck an Istick with a Nautilus on into my pocket every time I go out.
However, it seems to me over time these have got worse. It must be the coils. The flavour is muted, the draw always seems too tight. I've cleaned the tanks in everything from 99% IPA, Bicarb, vinegar, Ultrasonic Cleaner etc. The coils are definitely genuine and I've obtained them from various sources.
Sometimes I think it's me, but then I recall how good they used to be.
What's going on? HELP!!

Found the same thing myself pxr5, coils are not what they used to be at all so I have sold on most of my tanks and just keep a couple in the draw just in case, I still use the coils in a K3 though as the airflow is much better (no adjustment though) and I've a Naut 2 that I use on occasion although not that impressed with that either to be honest.

Aha, thanks Perpetua. Very interesting too that the 0.7 Ohm Nautilus 2 coils fits too. I'll give those both a try.

I found a few Nautilus coils from the old days of (my) vaping and thought I would use them up. t.b.h. in their day, they were one of the true game-changers, now I find them tasteless and unsatisfying. So, I present an argument that they haven't got worse, our general experience has improved or we have grown bored of them. Then again, that could be rubbish as I've not bought new ones which could be getting worse and I wouldn't know. I tell you what I do find bland and frankly carp but used to like - Eleaf GS. Tasteless, low-vapour wannabe Nautilus.

So, I present an argument that they haven't got worse, our general experience has improved or we have grown bored of them. It wouldn't surprise me if that was partly the issue djs. Pity that there hasn't been greater, more innovation in the world of MTL tanks that take stock coils perhaps . . . . not everyone wants to subohm, or do it exclusively. I know I don't. But manufacturers have focused much on that area of the market - I guess they go not surprisingly where they consider the profit to be. So I still use alot of ' old school ' stuff - along with the Triton Mini tank itself, which I prefer to the Mini Nautilus/Nautilus.

..... So, I present an argument that they haven't got worse, our general experience has improved or we have grown bored of them. I kinda have the same general thoughts about that "old gear" myself. A little while ago I was playing around with some original EVODS. Way back those were a revelation to me and made it possible for me to kick the smokes. But when I was playing with them recently even with improved cotton wicked coils, I was so sadly disappointed. Mute flavour and weak, weak, weak vapor/hit. They'd never do it for me now. And I certainly do not do the heavy hitting super sub-ohm very high watts thing either. I just suppose, as you say, I've experienced better since starting with those EVODS. Donno know if that explains the OP's issues, or if it is really a case of the replacement coils nowdays are somehow lesser in standard than they use to be though.

I sometimes think it's me as well. But.............. I still use an ego-c twist every day with a Mini Protank 1 on the top with a rewired kanger coil and a bit of jap cotton shoved in it. I only use it in the morning as I still like a tobacco eliquid first thing. And you know what, with a newly wired coil it still tastes amazing and is still very good. Also, remember those Naturvape coils, they are really very good too.
So no, I don't wear the argument that it's our tastes that have changed. The Nautilus tank was great when they first came out. I really think that the coils are a different beast from the early days.

When I recoil Nautilus BVCs I use a coil as near to the Naturevape coils as I can:- 2mm inner dia & 1.4ohm.
Now I make the coils with NR legs there's no damage to the grommet from a hot leg which had caused leaking.
By using 5mm cotton tape for the wick there's no damage caused to the coil by trying to stuff too much cotton in it.
A reminder that I offer 1 recoiled BVC for every 2 used genuine Nautilus BVC heads sent to me.

Yeah no worries. It will fit. They say nautilus 2 because the tank comes bundled with it.

I seem to remember they did change how they made Nautilus coils at some point pxr5, there used to be a membrane around the outside of the cotton and they either stopped putting this in or changed the material to make them cheaper to manufacture, the general consensus seemed to be that they were not as good. I would go with Perpetua on this - I really liked the claptons before I turned to building my own. Be interested to hear if you find they make a difference.

OK. Just to follow up. I bought some of the Triton Mini Coils and plonked one in my Mini Nautilus. They are much better than the stock Nautilus coils for sure. Not mind blowingly different, but enough to get a decent vape again. Thanks for the tips on those. Next I'll try the Nautilus 2 ones.
Btw will a 20W Istick take a 0.7 Ohm coil. If not I may need to get hold of a cheapo MTL type mod - any recommendations? I've had a quick look on myepack (I still have an account there), but not sure what's good (and cheap enough) these days. I find now at home I only use Smok Aliens, but out and about I like to carry a couple of Nautilus/Isticks with me, just for ease of use, simplictity and the pocket firendliness really.
Thanks again.

20w won't fire it but the 30w will, cheap as chips at FT or could prob find a UK bargain as well as they are considered old school now although I have 2 20w and 30w in daily rotation :-)

TJ Cheers. Good shout on the 30w Istick, I'd forgotten about those. I looked on FT, but they are only marginally cheaper than ebay, so I've ordered a black one for £17.
