You'll not be exempt from forming that special bond either thebishmanAww man thats nice. Yes already feel like he is bonding with me. The kids obviously making a fuss of him which he seems to love. So i dont want him smothered so take a step back when the kids are playing. He will come up to me when im sitting on floor and nuzzle into me. So he must trust me now. Right have managed to take some pictures...in coming

Well worth waiting for the photo's of Frank ( fab name! ) thebishman . . . . . . As TJ says, dog/pups will do their best to ' play ' you, they're a lot more intelligent even when puppies than given credit for! Obviously it's your choice how you raise this adorable lad . . . . but try not to create too many rods for your own backs, that you will later regret. As hard as it seems. Frank will be fine going out in the garden once he's got a little more comfortable and settled in his new surroundings, he does after all have his own fur coat.

Thanks for the comments peeps Yes we are very aware of making a rod for our own back... we are trying to do the right thing in all cases. Quite a learning curve i will admit!

I'd doubt that there's a dog owner among us who hasn't made and continues to make ' mistakes ' with their care and upbringing . . . . you'll be the same as the rest of us I'm sure, in addition to the things you get right. xxx

A little cracker, my only comment on dogs is you can do more with a change if tone in your voice than near anything else, no need to shout other than for distance recall.

What a cutie thebishman my rescue dog, Benito, wasn't house trained when he came to me. But even as an adult dog, it didn't take long - lots of taking out into the garden, especially after food Agree with Mandy, Frank will be fine going out in the garden for short time, no matter the weather

We tried the garden process today but he literally shivered straight away and ran back to us and hide by our ankles. We will keep it up tomorrow and see how he gets on x

We tried the garden process today but he literally shivered straight away and ran back to us and hide by our ankles. We will keep it up tomorrow and see how he gets on x Try hiding ( not too well! ) little treats in the garden for Frank, get him to associate going out there with something pleasurable . . . . and if he's bonding with the children they could help encourage him, dogs are quite curious and don't like to miss out if there's something exciting going on! Gentle persistence, with loads of praise . . . .
