Many many thanks guys for all your help and advice. I've learnt a lot and my head is a lot clearer and not quite so bamboozled! Very last question (yeah right) and just as a matter of interest, i'm just wondering about smaller atomizers (like my Kanger EMOW) and the tiny stock coils that they use. I know it's possible to rebuid these (not that i'm intending to do so) but is it possible to just re-wick these and still use the same coil (similar to larger tanks)? As i say i'm not going down that road but i've kept all my used coils and might want to play with them on a rainy day! Thanks as ever!

You're using dual coils I'd imagine with the EMOW mikemichelle . . . . the newer (enclosed ) versions are a bit pesky to prise apart, I found anyway. The earlier type not so: www.fasttech.com/product/1640704Although you won't be able to just rewick coils like this whatever version you have - they're not designed for such, so you'll need to do a complete recoil. Which isn't so difficult to do - there's a fair number of ' how to ' videos on Youtube: I recoil mine to a single coil using ready ones from FT: www.fasttech.com/products/3033/10007181/1591806However, I see that Nature Vape are still selling their Pro Coils ( which are darn expensive for what they are! ) which you can dry burn/rewick with new cotton. www.naturevape.co.uk/coils/pro-coilAgain ready made micro coils are an option . . . . .

Right guys, I'm finally all set with all the gear etc to attempt my first coil rebuild. I've got some superb (well I think so) rebuildable atomizers from FastTech. Check therm out here: Mini V3 Styled RTA. They are identical to the Kayfun V5 (clone) but just a bit smaller with a 19mm tank rather than 22mm tank. This makes them a bit smaller and a bit neater in my view and they match perfectly when sat upon my Eleaf iStick. I just don't like big, ugly clumsy looking tanks! Now to matters technical and techy I most certainly am not. The leaflet that comes with the gear recommends a minimum resistance of 1 ohm and an electric input from 7 watts to 30 watts. This is where I get hopelessly lost. Can someone please tell me what size kanthal and how many wraps I should be going for. I'll have a go at working it out myself but i'd really appreciate a second opinion just for safety's sake really if nothing else. (I do also have the slightly larger Kayfun V5 (clone) to fall back on if the Mini V3 doesn't work out for any reason). Many thanks as ever in advance guys. ps: not sure how this post has jumped right to the top of the page. Hope I didn't do something wrong.

8 to 9 wraps of 26 AWG Kanthal A1 on a 2.5mm diameter coiling rod. www.steam-engine.org/coil.html?r=1.1&awg=26&id=2.5I would recommend 26 AWG as it's thick enough to be easy to use but also thin enough so you don't need a crazy number of wraps to get the resistance you want.

i tend to use 5 to 7 wraps of whatever thickness wire im using the thinner the wire the higher the ohm of the coil 0.2mm kanthal is a good wire to start with for mtl as its still makes reasonably stiff coils so they easier to wick as you using a regulated mod if you do anything wrong it should just say short or no tank and not work ,just try again watch a youtube build vid or 2 and youll soon get the idear
wicking the kf3 is simples once you get used to how much cotton to use and not being over critical with it thread some cotton throw the coil cut the cotton to about the same width as the base of the tank tuck the ends of the cotton in to the juice wells (ie try to feed it in so the cotton isn't tangled/twisted up) prime the coil with juice ,build tank and fill and enjoy wicking when the tank is bone dry is much easier
hope that helps

mikemichelle Just for starters and to bump your thread can I suggest that 22m is the smallest atty that is going to give you a relatively easy build deck? At that size and single coil one of the doggy style RTAs might be a suggestion. Never used one myself. At 24mm the Vandy Vape Berserker perhaps? Again I have no experience of these tanks but others on here may have and may have better suggestions. Ive got a doggy and though not my choice for best RTA it is dirt cheap, very easy to build/wick, easy fill up able and is a really nice vape. Definitely a contender. FT_DOGGYIf you want a similar RTA to the doggy but a larger capacity and even easier to fill the digiflavour siren Not tried the V2 but the V1 is very good. DIGIFLAVOR_SIRENEDIT: the DF siren might be a bit big for an istick. Doggy looks proper dandy on it tho, Bit of overhang, but if your not bothered, go ahead
