Brian, you where so right with your suggestion to move the thread to members only I'll wait to see what Hi-fi & others feel about moving the thread back to general vaping discussion.

e lites did me good in that they showed me something was available to get off analogues and it was only after realising it was no cheaper thru them that me and a friend started looking elsewhere! so in a way i have a lot to thank e lites for cos i really didnt 100% wanna give up but cos they were all that was being sold at my local shop i tried them and then moved on an ended up on here and i now know a hell of a lot more than i did then an so i can point people in a better direction thru my mistakes, 4 people so far have bought egos on trying mine that were looking at or had e lites!

Agreed Chrissie, alot of people are still obviously falling for the E-Lites kits and ultimately being ripped off. They have alot of power in these big shopping malls, train stations etc.I just saw this stunning young woman who looked to be smoking in the mall and it instantly got my attention.I picked one up to try,had a few tokes and mine and my dads wallets were out ;DWe were happy for a few days until the 6 packs of carts were all used and by the claims we expected those carts to equate to way over 1000 cigs. Its no wonder people see red and get very angry,E-lites need to atleast be fair and DROP these disguting and misleading claims.I know for a fact that staff kept either leaving because they were sick of unhappy customers,or the ones that did stick it out were just issueing refunds immediately without question and they do KNOW the product is rubbish.Me and my dad used to always go and complain :)You could actually see the smiles of the staff turning to frowns when they saw us to coming back.It was all good fun and to be fair we ended up with alot of free kit and also full refunds for the free kit when things went wrong. We just used to hold on to our old receipt and keep taking stuff back, lol. To be fair to the kids, the stall was always busy and they didnt know which direction to look or what to do.Only the one girl knew alot about vaping,as for the rest, they were just hired to sell, sell sell without being told much about the product they were selling.

I don't think we should just yet as we don't want e-lites to get a tip off about hifi's intentions and agree 100% it was the right decision to move it to members only, at least for the time being. Just my opinion.

Ian, are you sure the "kids" on that stall where directly employed by e-lites, or where they just a franchise? Sorry, but feel it's a bit unfair to say "It was all good fun and to be fair we ended up with alot of free kit and also full refunds for the free kit when things went wrong. We just used to hold on to our old receipt and keep taking stuff back"

did you have anything else in your pocket like money or keys that could have shorted the battery... as batteries dont just overheat like that for no reason A poorly-made lithium battery (hell, even an alkaline battery) would and plenty have done. Given the way batteries are churned out by some not very careful makers these days, I'm not surprised at it occurring. I've seen things... you people wouldn't believe... Laptop batteries on fire, off the shoulder of O'Ryan...

I wish E-Lites would come here as i have ALOT of things i could say to them. One bloke got sacked for the way he spoke to me on the phone when ordering new stuff.Im not trying to stir anything here at all, just my own honest experiences ive had with this company.I DO thank them for making me aware of e-cigs massively, but thats the only one positive comment i can make about these con merchants.

They all worked for E-Lites Chrissie. As for my comment that you highlighted,i was just trying to show how unorganised they were and how blatantly scared they got of me and my dad when trading standards were mentioned.I know that they all worked for E-Lites as i had many conversations with the so called main man when i had issues.Edit to add, when i spoke to said main man and threatened trading standards he posted me yet another free kit and two full mega boxes of carts FOC.

i guess eventually the market will fall flat for e-lites etc once awareness of vaping grows and the public have access to shops that offer better value and greater performing equipment. unfortunately rip off merchants like e-lite would have already made their millions

Interesting comments from Ian.
If they KNOW their product is rubbish and doesn't match the claims made, then they are actually relying on people binning them after a bit or being real suckers and continuing to pitch up and pay through the nose for spares.
And that makes it worse IMO.
I remember that program on Radio 4 a few weeks back, a lot of people knew about e-cigs and said they were rubbish - I wonder how many were ex-E-lite customers?

We're getting right to the very heart of the issue I have with vendors behaving like this now - this can and apparently IS putting people off even giving them a try. There's no doubt at all in my mind that different kit suits different folk, but if the great British public gets the idea in their head that "all e-cigs are rubbish" this will prevent many from considering them as an alternative to continuing to smoke and therefore in my view, ultimately cost lives.
It's also a big part of the problem I have with the truly awesomely misleading and inaccurate reporting some newspapers have engaged in whenever they've written about e-cigs, because regrettably people do believe what they see in newspapers and hear on TV and radio, but that's a topic for another thread altogether!!
In some ways this thread is just getting better and better but I am really deeply saddened to be learning that it appears the entire founding principle and business plan behind e-Lites involves ripping people off to the maximum extent they can, and has done for even longer than I had realised.

At the end of the day, they must have made millions of pounds by now.E-lites seem to set up shop in a bustling shopping centre or a busy train station and force the hard sell onto anyone.Problem is that as a total newbie, you pick the tester e-cig up, have a try, and then believe its the miracle product they claim and get your cash out immediately.Me and my dad have always said that a hell of alot of very busy people must just shove these crap kits in the back of the draw and go straight back to the fags with the impression that e-cigs are utter rubbish.Ive had a fair few people say to me that vaping is crap, but after trying my gear they were all off to buy an Ego kit.Thats another thing aswell,99.9% of smokers want to vape a lookalike at first, thats another reason why the E-Lites product sells so well IMHO.
