It has only taken me three and a bit years, but I can now say I am finally off nicotine. I have been vaping zero nic for a month now, and not even noticed it to be honest. I started on 30mg back in 2014 and gradually reduced the nic until in mid January I mixed my first batch of zero nic juice. I started smoking at about age 12, so it has taken nearly 50 years to get rid of the nicotine addiction. Thank you vaping and the help on here and other forums. Now all I need to do is get rid of the shineyitis addiction.

Well done BobsbeerI tried many times to go "nic-free" using various substitutes with the nic-replacement methods. They all worked while I was using them, but as soon as they run out, I was back on the fags. The only one that worked for any length of time was the nicotine replacement chewing gum. With that I managed 18 months, but even then, along came the day when nothing but a real smoke was all I craved for. Everybody is different, so, speaking for myself, I know that I would have to be "Nic-Free" for a minimum of 2 years before I would even think about considering myself free of anything.

Good for you Bobsbeer. There's one less thing you need to order/buy/store/bother with. I'm not so sure I could achieve that step though, leastways not anytime soon. After 4 years, I'm still very much sucking in my share of nic and I do notice it's absence.

Thanks everyone. It was never my intention to get off nicotine when I started vaping, but to get off fags. That worked and so the next goal was nicotine. I'm in no rush to stop vaping, that may happen, but it's not a specific goal. In my book vaping is probably doing me less harm than the beer I brew, so I don't have any problem vaping.

Well done, I am nearly there, only on 1.5mg nic but just can't drop it all together yet.

I got down to 1mg, then 0.5mg then 0.25 mg and then finally 0.01mg before going to zero. I took nearly a year going from 1mg to 0mg as I saw no reason to rush and possibly fail.

Everybody is different, and as PHE keep saying vaping is 95% safer than smoking so most of us are already 95% better off regardless of our nicotine intake. I'm not sure getting rid of nicotine makes it any safer, it just means one thing less to put in the mix, and one thing less to be addicted to. Which is after all why we smoked all these years. After three years, vaping is now a habit, but one hell of a lot better than smoking. So we should all be proud of that.

Congratulations Bob. Everybody is different, and as PHE keep saying vaping is 95% safer than smoking so most of us are already 95% better off regardless of our nicotine intake. After three years, vaping is now a habit, but one hell of a lot better than smoking. So we should all be proud of that. Personally I agree with the above.... I think that there is more likely to be issues with inhaling some of the flavourings (which we know the least about from an inhalation perspective) than with the nicotine; albeit a small risk, compared with smoking. I've never really tried very hard to reduce my nicotine intake (as other than an addiction, like coffee, I don't think that it's very important).... and as for vaping, I enjoy it, and accept the small risks that there may be, so don't plan stopping anytime soon.

Well done Bobsbeer ... I’ve been on 3mg for ages, and can’t notice any difference from the 12mg I was on from the start of my journey. My problem has been that the flavours all taste the same after a while (ie not a lot of difference). I’ve now ordered some samples from BCL (as recommended by ghostrider1971 ) and all at 0 nic without the nicotine shots. If these don’t liven up my tastebuds then I’ll consider giving up altogether (never going back to the fags), having been so thankful for vaping to enable me to do so.
