I know we have some very active Cornish members; I am staying near Penzance for a week at the end of this month and may need a quiet spot for a vape and a pint of St Austell or similar. Can anyone recommend a vape friendly hostelry in the area? Thanks.

All St Austell brewery pubs are vape friendly to a degree (company policy). That said, they get teasy if there's plumes of smoke being blown everywhere. Most of the pubs in Penzance are hit and miss and seem to change their vaping policy regularly so best to ask the bar staff. As it goes Penzance is a sh**hole, you could take a drive out to the First and last Inn (on the Lands End road near Sennen - nice beach as well). If you want to know about anything else in the area let me know.

We will get down that way for sure.

I hear that the Cornish have "funny" accents! Back in the 60s I worked as a tin miner (South Crofty) for a couple of years. I am not Cornish but I did manage to follow the conversations eventually. The miners; unlike the parodies of a lot of rural accents; actually spoke very fast and still used a few Cornish words. eg kroust = lunch /Dag = axe are the only ones I remember now.
Chrissie it would be lovely to meet up thanks very much for the suggestion. It is going to be difficult for me to predict a time however. We are taking my 94 year old Mother with us with the prime purpose of her seeing my brothers children (and their children). (Oddly my brother is Cornish; don't quite know how that happened). Long story but arrangements are complicated. But thanks again. Rich.
