I think escaping duty for a few pennies or pounds pales in to absolute insignificance compared to the multi-millions corporations avoiding tax Maybe it's just another way of bashing vapers? "Look, not only do they not contribute huge taxes any more by not buying cigarettes (and hurting tobacco company profits) but they also have a massive importing scam from the Far East" - Absolutely ridiculous.... 1. You are not wrong 2. Although I expect to turn a profit on my refunds there is also the possibility HM Customs might want to whip my backside and threaten me with some red-tape about illegal importing of coils which as we all know are "tobacco" products in the 21st Century. Really, it wouldn't surprise me they refuse to refund me my 3 quid and send me a court summons because of the nature of my purchase. I feel 90% sure they'll wiggle out saying tobacco products don't have the 15 pounds lower limit. They might even double the duty because they can.

It's not the duty I am upset that I might have to pay its an £8 handling fee I find absolutely shocking for something that costs just over £15. I know what it's like, but I think it's best to try and shrug and pay up. Haven't we all escaped duty on packages whern we should have been charged? The government is in deficit, what we don't pay, our kids will have to.

It's VAT that Customs demands for imports from outside the EU (over £15, including postage and insurance) - duty is generally only charged where the order is valued at over £135. Source: UK Govt " Tax and customs for goods sent from abroad"

Either way, I'm getting my money back for the VAT bit unless they're gonna see me in court for importing tobacco products.

I don't know of any laws against buying tobacco products I think you are safe.

Any updates on this? Are HMRC still persecuting we little folk for trying to get stuff in from China.
I have it in mind to order some things from FT soon (not all vape related) and need to know if there are any ways to avoid having my collar (and wallet) felt.

FWIW, Fasttech are a Shitehouse at the minute. Forget them for a month. China shut down today for a week. So anything that hasn't made it out today, is gonna be there to next Monday. But, it get's worse. Due to an unusual swell in orders, they are using Wuhan (don't ask) for e-packet shipping. Not much is getting through customs there to even make it out of China. I've had the same package returned from Wuhan to FT twice, as it failed to clear customs over there. After days of one message at a time, I finally received a refund today. So my advice, at least in the short term is avoid.

No problem thebishman. Ended up ordering from Vaping101 yesterday, should be here tomorrow. 3F vape are no better with their 24 hour shipping carry on. Ordered last Sunday, shipped yesterday so looks like that will be a long time coming.

Minute ago got an atty (VapeFly Horus) and some odds and ends delivered by RM. 2 weeks from ordering with FT. No customs charges fortunately. They had put $15 value on the label.

Just checked and I've not ordered anything from FT since 14th June!
( Not that I need anything whatsoever, which as a rule doesn't stop me, but I'm really trying to be good given the amount of clobber I've got stashed away - a fair percentage unused from the pre TPD bonanza's. )
Any orders that were done I always ask FT to mark the parcel value at $15.00 on the order/payment process to save opening a ticket, so they display as ' Special Processing Required ' on the Unshipped Order option.

I am ordering in 'shipments' of less than £15.
I noticed today's order was listed in HK Dollars again. $111.00 (That's right). I didn't get a charge.
I'd like to order at mod (£60-£70) at some point. Anyone know if you can choose to pay the tax before import? It's the darn £8 RM charge that winds me up the most.
I also ordered a £35 item from China off ebay. I forgot.... hmm.... let's see. I can afford the tax and RM on that as it's being sold on.
