All my previous FT orders have the goods value printed in USD, haven't bought anything from them for about six months though,
I'm wondering if it's just FT doing this??

Is it worth entering the lion's den and starting a thread on Fasttech's customer forums about this issue? If nothing else it might make them more aware of the problems using HKD's is causing in the UK . . . . unnecessarily so! Yes, and yes.

Whoever at Fasttech making the decision to 1) use HKD and 2) totally mess up the conversion.... needs to stop it right now. If we pay in USD$ then the value should be USD$. The value should never ever be more than you have paid... surely that's asking for trouble.

My Hangsen marked $20 (about right) arrived today duty free - arrived in the UK on the 10th of July, so a long time in the customs shed

So FT have shipped two of my orders and after receiving a reply to my ticket this morning regarding lowering the price on my parcels they have decided to **** me off and go with their usual $20 on both of them. FML.
If i get stung on any of them it will be the last time i buy from them as they tell you one thing and do another. They don't seems to give a **** that we are getting stung by customs so i will sting them in their pocket i get charged by customs.
i dare say i will find out in the next week or two what the outcome is. Praying for the pound to bounce back in that time!

I know what it's like, but I think it's best to try and shrug and pay up. Haven't we all escaped duty on packages whern we should have been charged? The government is in deficit, what we don't pay, our kids will have to.

I will end up in profit following this debacle. Fasttech lose out, UK customs lose out. Only the Royal Mail wins and gives their share holders cheap thrills ripping folk off, some of whom have shopped in China through neccessity.

I think escaping duty for a few pennies or pounds pales in to absolute insignificance compared to the multi-millions corporations avoiding tax through government led/allowed loopholes - Amazon and Starbucks anyone?
Taking a quote from the Guardian website regarding Starbucks "The tax contribution for 2015 was only slightly less than than the £8.6m it paid over the 14 years after its 1998 UK debut, despite £3bn worth of sales in that time."
Making those ******** cough up what they owe and HMG earning a few quid from vapers becomes an irrelevance....
However, as per usual, they (HMG) will always go for the soft and easy targets.....
Maybe it's just another way of bashing vapers? "Look, not only do they not contribute huge taxes any more by not buying cigarettes (and hurting tobacco company profits) but they also have a massive importing scam from the Far East" - Absolutely ridiculous....

That's the nub of it . . . . many years ago now while I was running my own business, I had a VAT inspection - essentially you're guilty until you prove your innocence with HMRC. I was squeaky clean, so they could find nothing to have me on. Which was a relief, but it was one of the most stressful years ever.
As my accountant at the time said ( who advised them that this would be the outcome in the first instance ) a little person is a much easier target than large companies . . . . not fair is it.
