Upgraded Gear and Pneumonia...help please

Here's my dilemma...
I've happily vaped away for the last 5 years with various ego twist batteries (laterly GS Twist 2 2000mah) and clearomizers but got to the stage they weren't really doing much for me or vape flavour anymore.

Long story short I've upgraded to Kanger CL Tank 2P Kit (3000mah), which supports both MTL and DTL. Sticking with MTL with 1.5ohm coils for now but good to have the choice further down the line, I thought.

I was so pleased with it but did notice it's a more powerful draw but within a few days I had a bit of a raw throat, and thoughts were
1) Blamed my OH as he had cough & cold
2) Is it my new vapey?

Unfortunately for me within the last week I got worse and ended up in hospital with pneumonia. I'm home with antibiotics and on the mend but I am terrified of vaping (even though I really really want to). Mind you I am still quite short of breath so I'd probable cough a lung up anyway.

Has anyone had similar experience, am I being totally paranoid and a big worry wart about the vaping...any pearls of wisdom appreciated peeps.

Pneumonia is caused by a bacterial infection so no it's not the vape.
When you feel up to vaping again you could try reducing the nicotine in your liquid, the lower the nic the less harsh on the throat the vape is.
A higher ratio of VG in the liquid will also reduce harshness.

I know that and I suppose it's just a case of bad timing and coincedence, will take on board reducing nicotine.

Sorry to hear you were unwell linzmac13.

Seems to be some evidence that vaping anything with oil or wax in it creates an environment in the lung favourable for the bacteria or viruses that cause pneumonia, The cases I have read about were people doing MTL day all every day for some time on ultra cheap Chinese juices with oil rich flavourings, the evidence for this is thin, but all evidence is thin on vaping.

There’s also a theory that PG being a bacteria killer actually might help to reduce the risk of pneumonia.

If you are vaping juices from well Regulated countries, it seems very unlikely your illness had anything to do with vaping!

If you want something a bit easier on the throat hit high VG juices are a good way to go.

pneumonia isn't always bacterial. Your doctor will have told you what type you have.

Appreciate your input. It appears it was bacterial and I only use vaping products from the UK so I think I hit the panic button a bit soon.

I've followed recommendations, lowered my nic level from 20mg to 6mg and upped vg a bit and back enjoying my vapes so thanks all.

It's only natural that when you get any illness around the throat and lung areas that you suspect vaping. I do it every time I get ill and I've been vaping about 9 years lol. I've always chain vaped and currently vape around 30ml a day. I know it ain't good for me but as far as I can tell, it ain't made me ill yet. I don't feel like an athlete but I feel a hell of a lot better than when I was smoking 30 B&H a day.I just keep vaping through any illness if I can even though I probably shouldn't.

FWIW I'd say coincidence.
That being said pneumonia is serious business and can knock the stuffing out of you for a while so go easy on the vapes till you feel right.

I have been diagnosed with chronic bronchitis and now vaping is really making it worse, I cough a lot worse when I vape and that worried me so I'm trying to pack it in but I'm finding it very difficult, I asked my wife to throw all my gear in  the bin, she said she had but I think she has hidden it in case I start climbing the bloody wall, I normally use a 6% nic and good quality juice so I'm sure if it's the type of juice or if all juices would have the same effect, have any of you good people had similar reactions? I'd appreciate any advice, thank you, Jamesrd

Since my last post I've come down with a terrible chest. Coughing and wheezing like hell. Sore ribs and headache to boot. I'm still vaping like an idiot though. I'm just not fully inhaling as usual. I know the vaping hasn't caused it as my daughter had it first so it'll eventually clear. You could try vaping something like a tunes recipe. I hear the menthol vapes can help a bit. Personally I'll stick with whatever and look forward to full on vaping when I'm better 😊

It seems I get something every year now. I definitely think these bugs are more prevalent in recent years. Bloody annoying anyway

The same around these parts . . . . had my ' dose ' of seasonal germs over Christmas, which was a lovely gift, not!

However! Unlike when I carried on smoking with a cold and ended up with a racking coughing and a chest infection for what seemed like weeks, generally as a vaper I can throw off these bugs in 7-10days.
