This morning i put in an order for some Red Astaire concentrate and all was well until i received an email from them to prove my age with either my driving licence or passport!
When did this start that you have to prove your age even though the product i am buying has zero nicotine in it?
I used my address and the same name and address is used through my Paypal account so i highly doubt i would be under age paying this way.
How do you prove your age if you don't have a driving licence or a passport. Seems a bit overkill just for some concentrate with zero nicotine in it.

I had the same problem with them when I used my phone to order but I managed to order with my laptop, although I did message them and was told that they couldn't do the same age verification on mobile devices.

Under the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016 (the UK's implementation of the TPD): "prior to, or at the time of sale, the retailer’s age verification system confirms that the consumer’s age is not lower than the minimum age applicable for the purchase of the product in the member State in which the consumer is located."
Using Paypal does not confirm that you are over 18.
Yes... all seems over the top, but it is the vendor's responsiblity/liabilty to ensure that they don't sell to minors. (Same as online alcohol shops). If you still want to purchase from T Juice, maybe a electoral card would be acceptable... if you have that?

All of which is very similar to what happens in B&M establishments . . . . Trading Standards regularly send out covert ' shoppers ' whose age could be doubtful when purchasing cigarettes, alcohol especially, but also lesser known items like party poppers, certain DVD's, paracetamol and sparklers to name a few.
Failure by a cashier to do the age verification process can result in a personal fine/dismissal and/or the retailer losing their licence.
So I guess it's not unreasonable for online retailers to adopt a similar due diligence policy, with or without the TPD.

I get the age verification if the liquid had nicotine in it but it was just concentrate. That's the part i can't get my head around.
I have sorted it now. I just didn't feel comfortable sending someone a copy of my ID.

I agree, stu1873. By this logic, we would have to give age verification for PG & VG. Could extend it to everything - all the plastic bottles we buy, mixing scales maybe even the desk I mix on???

The verification for online is only completed once at checkout. This is regardless of what is purchased, as the store sells nicotine-containing products it is required. Once verified on the account it is stored for future purchases.
Oh and hello again, not been here for ages.
