Well that was how it was when I was a lad. But since then youtube came along. Now cats torment dogs and birds (especially parrots) torment cats. Why do the cats put up with it and not just deal with the birds in their natural instinctive way?

Years ago I had a neighbour at the other end of the block to me who had 2 very large rotties, and most times I went past their garden gate they would bark at me, I was told later that the only time they didn't bark was when my cat was in there with them

Why do the cats put up with it and not just deal with the birds in their natural instinctive way? The cats are too PC nowadays or the birds self-identify as elephants. The colour of the feathers also plays a role.

As the owner of a dog who will chase absolutely anything small and furry given the chance . . . . cats, squirrels and wabbits, there are still some stereotypes around Monty. But then I've never allowed her to watch Youtube, so clearly the fault is mine in denying her an education.
As for Rottie's, some years back now I had a Parson's JR X, two of his besties were Chester and Bramble, immense specimens of the breed . . . . gentle giants the pair of them. They would take it in turns to carefully pick him up by the scruff, then merrily carry him around the park to save his legs, much to everyone's amusement.
We had to stop them doing that, as it was defeating the object of taking him there to exercise!
