Good evening hope you are all well. Just wanted to ask for any advice please! I've had the dse901 for nearly four weeks now (I still can't believe it) and so far have been getting on far better than I could ever have expected However, am getting through three to four charged batteries a day at present, although some of the ones which I bought in a multi-pack seem to be defective ie. do not hold their charge. Seems I'm always faffing with blinking batteries- It's ok but not ideal so was looking at the Screwdriver MK2 mainly because I have spare 901 atomisers to use- there's a basic package on offer at the moment but I have read some negative comments about it so feel a bit unsure ??? beeperxxx

A Screwdriver is the most economical way for you to go. I have the MkI and it's very reliable indeed, and I'm sure many are happy with their MkII. While it is half-price at TECC you can' really go wrong, and it there's a fault with it on arrival you can send it back for refund or exchange.
Have a look at the different combinations they've got in stock, and don't forget you'll need a charger (a dual would be handy). For additional batteries, go to China.
If economy is a concern, that's the one to go for, IMHO.

The Screwdriver Mk2 from TECC is a real bargain at the moment (I have both Mk1 and 2 Screwdrivers and whilst I prefer the Mk 1, the Mk2 has been very reliable and cheap to run) I'd urge you to get one. (Read the manual, tighten the switch screw up using a "real" screwdriver, and use the right size -18350 - batteries and you shouldn't have any problems) Most problems with Screwdrivers boil down to people not using the right batteries, using damaged batteries, letting the switch become loose, or not cleaning them occasionally. These are good batteries to use with the Mk2 - they will take a couple of weeks to come though: www.kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=5319

Beeper, the batteries that TW sell are fine, Prof was just giving you a link to a cheaper alternative.
I would say from looking at the close up pics of the Kadomain batteries, they look like they are protected. Hopefully prof or someone else will confirm this.

The TW batteries are excellent and highly protected - but they are relatively expensive - I've used unprotected batteries in SDs since April2009 and never had a problem - it is fair to state that you can't say any battery is completely safe, but most problems reported have been with multiple batteries devices... I've not heard of any case of exploding batteries in SDs - if there is a short, the spring will melt and cut the circuit according to trog
You have to make these sort of decisions for yourself.
