Machinae supremacy is at the moment my absolute go to band. No one else has done that style before and no one has done it since either. SID metal, totally awesome ratatat did tropicana which was used in knocked up. Also, "lex" is their other hit that should be bigger than justin bieber. So much awesome. Since bleach is forever gone from my tuesdays I have a gap I need to fill with anime so I'll be gladly checking those series out, thanks

It's by Satoshi Kon who is more famous for some of his feature length films (eg, Paprika, Millenium Actress, Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers). I haven't yet watched the whole of Tatami Galaxy, but that's because I tried watching the subtitled version (which is usually my preference with foreign language films/TV) but the dialogue was just too damn fast to keep up (unless you've got amazing speed-reading skills). I don't know if a dubbed version exists. Never heard of SID metal, but I'm assuming it's a similar idea to "Nintendocore"?

lol nintendocore. Yes, similar I guess. Not heard of nintendocore but it sounds like it would be 8 bit and 16 bit sounds. Similar to glitch hop that was really famous for a while like the glitch mob. SID metal is all that awesome 8 or 16 bit sound synth with metal. I love it! On the same note, there is the greatest doom remix ever the dark side of phobos - hangarmageddonSo many hours spent modding this game with friends

HORSE The Band are usually credited with starting the Nintendocore movement. Here they are:

LOL that's awesome As a sega kid I'm not pleased with the term nintendocore > lol segacore Every time I saw a genre with "core" in it I always thought it was pretty bad and needed a gimmicky name to get a little recognition but it's awesome to hear some 8bit sounds with some modern music.

He he, I was a sega kid too. Although back before then, I was a 48k Spectrum kid, so I suppose I should object to SID metal, as it's based on the C64.

You could say that music plays a big part in my life and theres two of us here that are music and hifi equipment mad. This is the most played rack along with some of the kit we use to play them on, jazz, blues, soul, rock, classical guitar etc etc and none of it what you'd call mainstream, tons more albums in the attic and 3 terabytes of music on the media pc too.
