TECC batts are not the best for the LT anyway cause they are protected so I wouldn't expect much battery life from them, though they may be more properly rated. Do you have a recommendation with a link?

Some very knowledgeable folks have tested it and have found that it is actually a pretty good circuit considering the price..
PWM actually gives you a slightly better battery life..But because you are getting the proper outputs your battery life is short..
The "fire" ones are just crap at e-cig amperages..They are not even C rated to supply 1.5 to 2 amps. You can get 1200 mah out of them if you have a load of 200 ma. E-cig amperages are on average 8- 10 times that and those batteries just drain at that kind of load..

I love it when it's going OK it's a lovely bit of kit, so much so that I might abandon the idea of getting a Provari. Is this still the case Des?

Not all LTs are equal.
Apart from the different versions and variants, LavaTube has now become something of a generic term and they are manufactured by different firms.
Its often difficult to know what you are actually buying.

I think I may have to take a punt on a miniLT from vapourhut sometime this month by the sounds of it. I love my egotwist for VV but it doesnt last too long . Do the 18350 SD MK2 batteries not perfom well in the miniLT then?

I got an email from Alex, who is getting some more minis in stock end of this week/beginning of next.
I guess I`ll have to wait till then to find out.
Thanks for the replies, is the hut10 discount no-longer active? ???

Do the 18350 SD MK2 batteries not perfom well in the miniLT then? Protected batteries will generally not perform as well as unprotected ones and neither will they last as long..This is purely because the protection circuit inside them consumes energy... Also the SD battery may struggle at higher wattages because it was meant to be used at 3.7 volts and protect an unprotected mod. For a electronically protected mod like the LT an IMR will give you the best performance..Especially at 18350 sizes the higher the C rating of the battery, the better. Does not mean the SD MK2 batteries will not perform well..They will not perform as well as IMR's. However, for £2.00 a pop plus postage you can get 2 batteries for the price of a 700 mah IMR. So if you already have the batteries, it's a case of suck it and see because you may not be demanding much wattage from the battery at all and it may suit you down to the boot,

I dunno Karma..
Without a battery datasheet in my case or user experience, which can also vary widely between users, it's impossible to tell but an IMR should theoretically deliver a better experience both in run time and maintaining set voltage purely because it is designed for larger currents..

They work well in my full size LT but the run time isn't great, about 5 hours, although that's chain vaping :-[ I think Verey posted a data sheet about them, didn't mean anything to me but he seemed to think they were safe

LT has it's own protection. So there is no need to worry about battery protection on these devices.. It's the pure mechanical mods which should be used with protection of some kind if you want to err on the side of caution. Several people use IMR's, which are unprotected, in their mechanical mods. Many of these mods are protected by a simple hot spring. In mods with no protection whatsoever people are taking a slight chance of getting severe burns if an IMR does short. IMR's are safer chemistry in that they do not vent explosively but they do get very very hot when shorted. This is what a IMR failure looks like in an unprotected mod. And it happens in seconds. Thankfully they are quite rare, but accidents happen only once.
