Guess this means I won't be able to sneak a puff or two down the front of my t-shirt. Mandi Ok I will say the obvious here, It will depend on your clevage there Mandi Sorry but you set yourself up for that one Hmmm, if I wear my best push-up bra and a loose t-shirt I should be okay then.......

the most pertinent part of the story for me was the 'health aid device' part. regulation anyone?

So glad you took that in the manner it was ment. I have thought about the vaping thing on coaches and if they would allow it if you openly asked and said it infront of everyone. It might actually be a good idea to do that particularly if you said about it and mentioned the M6 incident saying that you did not want to alarm anyone and that it is not you smoking, you never know you might get some asking you all about it.

I see that wording as a good thing, it is not a medical device and it is not a NRT item, so it falls right between the cracks still. A health aid device could be all manner of things like foil blanket, or those funny soled shoes that help you tone as you walk.

hope you're right, batty. but a health aid device that delivers a 'drug'. could become 'medical'.

Part of the problem here is the very fact that the person on the bus felt they had to be sneaky about doing something that they have every right to do.
The other side of the problem is the person who, rather than saying "excuse me, your bag seems to be smoking" thinks the only appropriate response is to call the police and raise an alarm.
I see both of these things as a direct result of the manufactured "war on terror" that has been created by governments and the media and had a FAR more damaging effect on our society and civil liberties than terrorism itself possibly could.
As a side note... it will be interesting to learn the colour of the skin of the vaper on the bus to see if that influenced the alarmist on the bus.

Stealth vaping is a result of the war on terror?

Reading the link that Macca posted for Sky 1 , one of the comments say's "I suspect, no pun intended, that they used it as a live training exercise." , having read a lot of the posts posted I suspect that there is at least some truth in this is, if a bomb is smoking is more than likely going to go off before the suspicious person had the time to report it , never mind the armed unit responding to it. I am sure there are several such phone calls everyday but the police decided to act on this one.
None of the articles I've seen do anything to disparage e-cigs or their use. So I think it is good publicity for the vaping they will be plenty who have either never heard of e-cigs or , have vague knowledge of them who now have them on their radar now.
I am also starting to be a little of the opinion that vaping on public transport could be a little of a no-no, your opinion of a nicely flavoured/ smelling choice, could be very different to the person sitting next to you . I wouldn't be happy if the person I was started burning joss sticks or constantly spraying deodorant for example........

The report about it on 6 o'clock news tonight, actually stated that the false alarm was due to a passenger on the bus using an e-cigarette.
