Hey All (Newbie Here), great site, was looking for help and reviews on google and stumbled here. It's good to see a wealth of information, that is honest and unbiased. So here's my dilemma.... Obviously I'm new to vapping. I tried a few friends e-cigs and didn't really rate them, but last Friday, I bit the bullet and bought an Intellicig Disposable (supposedly 30 cigs worth). I quite liked the throat hit, but there was no flavour from it. It didn't taste like cigarettes. Used it and I did cut my cigarette intake down. But I just felt a bit non-plussed, although I didn't crave a fag, I didn't get the satisfaction I was expecting from it. I counted 10 puffs (the amount that is supposed to be equivalent to a normal smokey cig), the battery failed at 10 cigs worth (100 puffs, not the 350 puffs advertised). It cost me £9.99 for 10 cigs (soon be saving for that round the world cruise won't I ?!!!). I emailed Intellicig directly and they kindly sent out 3 more replacement disposables, they came yesterday and I've had exactly the same experience with the first one I've used. It seems the battery fails on them, as there is plenty of vap on the first inhale, then the LED flashes and there's nothing coming from it. While waiting for the replacements to arrive, I tried the 10 Motives disposables (from Tesco kiosk at £5.99 each), in both menthol and normal tobacco flavours, they have lasted loads longer.. The menthol one tastes lovely (strange as I hate Menthol Cigarettes), but the normal (tobacco) flavour is sooo sweet, it's hideous, makes me want to yak at the taste. The menthol one lasted me 2 days use (I normally smoke around 15 a day, so this was right). The tobacco flavour one is still going, I've not really used this because of the taste. Never the less, the Intellicig nightmare has not put me off. What I want to do is go the step up and get the full kit, atomizer, carts, recharger etc. But it's so damned confusing. There's so many companies out there offering "the most realistic" vap. I actually visited an E-Lite stall at my local Westfield, I was semi impressed, but they make you use the hygiene tips, which seem to make it a rather chokey vap. The Rep was a bit pushy, with things like "it's the most consistent, yadah, yadah, yadah. But again, they didn't really give me the satisfaction I want. The E-Lite kind of reminded me of the Nicorette Inhalator things (ya know that powdery feeling on your throat that makes you choke). I then visited the ViP E-Cig kiosk in the same Mall. They was absolute rubbish. I think it was actually fresh air that was coming through, not vapour (and these didn't use hygiene tips, just a dettol wipe between users). I've watched a lot of videos.. But as I say I'm confused. I want, a nice consistent, tobacco flavoured vap, that's as identical to a normal cigarette as it can be. I don't want to feel choked up with each inhalation. I want a good yield of vap on exhaling. Flavour and quality are key to me. Any recommendations? I've heard the Janty is good, but that was in a Youtube video, by an American, can we get the Janty over here? If so, do any of you use it? Would it fulfill my needs? Then do I go refillable carts, or just buy the pre-filled carts? What's best? Which is most consistent? I know refilling the liquid is cheaper, but is it as safe? Apologies for the length, but I am so confused and I really need a helping hand from people who actually use this method. I am not being fussy, but it's a pretty large sum of cash to shell out, so I don't want to have to keep shelling out to find the right atomizer/brand. I so want to give up smoking, but I have tried most variations of quitting, but I feel Vapping is most definitely the way forward for me. Anyways, thanks for any help in advance. I'd really appreciate it if anyone has any similar stories and found solutions etc. Cheers Guys

Hi Candigirl and welcome. A great post, and a story similar to many of ours. Before you start getting too much advice, a couple of questions. What do (did) you smoke, and how many? Does your e-gig have to look like a cig? Do you knowthere's a whole world of flavours out there besides tobacco? Do let us know so we can begin to narrow your search

Hello & welcome Candigirl You have done well to not buy from e-lites or VIP. They are over priced & we have heard from many folks saying that they under perform. As Oneday says, come & tell us a bit more about what & how much you smoked etc.

I tried an intellicig and a Gamucci as my first e cigs. I did not get along with them, I didnt feel they satisfied my cravings. It wasnt until I tried a friend of mines titan 510 e cig with a refillable cartridge that I got to thinking e cigs were really good.
Things have moved on since I started vaping with my 510, I can only recommend what I have tried, but from what I have heard there are e cigs with longer battery life and that hold more e liquid these days.
I think most people start with prefilled cartridges/cartomisers, I did, and I think it is sensible till you get used to vaping and find which strength and flavour suits you, then you can save some money buy refilling carts instead of buying packs of new ones.
Tobacco is a particular tricky flavour to find to suit you, because there are as many varieties of tobacco e liquid as there are types of tobacco. there are some e liquids that mimic specific brands of tobacco, such as marlborough or golden virginia for example, but its a case of finding what you like.
Anyway, good luck with your switch to vaping!

Hi candigirl and #welcome2# You say you smoke about 10 cigarettes a day, the question I would ask you is if you don't mind using something a bit bigger, cigar sized? You can get nice Pink ones if that's your thing or nicely decorated ones that look nice and "girly". The problem with the e-cigas that are the same size as a cigarette is that the battery is tiny needing constant charging we can recommend you an e-cig that will last most of the day without needing to be charged. Also we will recommend youa kit that has 2 batteries, so one can be on charge whilst you use the other, so that you never have to wait for your e-cig to recharge. We will also recommend you cartridges (cartomiser or clearomiser tank) that can be refilled many times with relatively cheap liquid that is available in thousands (literally) of flavours and at different strengths to suit your nicotine need. Finally, how much will this cost you? You need to budget about £40 for a kit and some liquid to get you started which if you use for a week would be about the same cost for cigarettes. The kits should last a long time over a year is no unheard of, but there are consumable items and we generally say that you can get by on spending £10 - £15 a week to keep you in liquid and consumables. I hope this helps. Let us know if you don't mind something cigar sized.

Hello Candi and #welcome2# from me too Interesting that you enjoyed the menthol cig-a-like. Many people do seem to prefer menthol at first, I suppose it's because it is really difficult to find a taste that is identical to tobacco! If you wouldn't mind a battery that is slightly bigger than a ciggie then we will be able to recommend something that will outlast the cig-a-likes no problem Pre-filled cartos are fine but there is such a wide array of e-juice it does make sense to fill your own, and it becomes part of the fun Pop back in and tell us a bit more about your smoking habit and we will be only too happy to give recommendations and help

Welcome Candi. I found the transition from 'real' smoking to vaping was helped by vaping menthol flavours. I used to hate menthol cigarettes which is strange.

Hi candigirl I joined this forum not to long ago and the ppl on here are the best ones to listen to very helpful and know where to point you,I went for battery life rather than cig look a likes, thanks to (onedayillquit+others) but i was also thinking i needed the tobacco flavor,I didn't really enjoy it so much but it got me off the stinkys I'm using an apple flavor at the moment and was really surprised how it was and how it helped, not touched a stinky since the day i started vaping and have no craving for one.Cleaning and re filling cartos and clearomizers is actually very easy after you do one its surprisingly simple.Good luck

Hello Vaping & Confusion - two words that marry up well at the beginning, but it gets better. I started with a 10motives, after smoking rollies for 17 years, instant hit, loved it, but it is nothing compared to what I use now. I use Innokin cig-a-like batteries with cartomisers, easy hold, look classy (not that looks have anything to do with it), easy to fill, you can get pre-fills for them, quick to charge - but......you will need more than one battery, 3 at least if you average 20 / day. I now use an ego-T battery on what ever I screw into it. Bigger batteries last longer, a day or 2 or sometimes 3 depending on your usage. You also find you will get better flavour and a better throat hit with better batteries. Try and get the best you can afford, but start slowly in case you wish to change your mind or maybe you don't quite get on with something. Vaping saves your health and life, but it is meant to help your wallet out too, sometimes I used Vape-Escape for my first purchase vapeescape.co.uk/contact.asp most vendors / suppliers you will find very helpful and full of good tips and advice for starting out, they're all a credit to the industry and community they serve! however I have also used (I'm lieing, actually my items are in the cart, but I am about to use www.ukecig.com/ Both you can phone and both will give excellent advice for starting out. Check out this thread that has a wealth of vendors on it and helpful sites allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=gotopost&board=newmembers&thread=1148&post=23191Always ask, and don't be afraid to repeat yourself over and over, you've come to one of the very best, friendliest and knowledgable forums in regards to vaping, there are a few suppliers who also pop on with special offers and discounts. First, as others have said, think about how you want to Vape, would you mind carrying vaping equipment, or do you want just one device quick and easy and more socially acceptable, or do you want one for home and one for out and about? Try not to take everything on board so soon, it really does become simple soon enough, the hardest thing is what to spend your saved money on (more juice and vaping shiny things) Best of luck

Hi, I've noticed everyone is having problems finding a e liquid which resembles tobacco. My advise would be to contact James from Paradise vape, try a sample of his golden virginia or Benson and hedges (fences on James e liquid label ) and if you feel it needs a bit more stronger flavor, call him and he will up the flavor and nicotine. My hubby is a VERY fussy vaper! He doesn't like any fruity or sweet flavors and James managed to mix him something as close as can be to the real thing. Not exact, but very close!
