Well I am currently really enjoying James's new 'Pancake'. Yum - but, have learned something new today - again! I opened and started it (the pancake) this morning, and wasn't too keen; it tasted more like bonfire than pancake. I persevered and was about to give up, but noticed that the battery was fading a bit, so got out my tornado which had a different (newer) attie attached. So I just swapped the cart across. Suddenly, totally different taste began to emerge - pancake!!!!!!!!!!!! It's lovely, and have had a great vaping afternoon. Thank you James.

"For some reason I'm not enjoying vaping at the moment. Don't know why really, just something seems to be lacking at this point. Hopefully I'll get back on track.
Anyone else felt like this before ???"
I remember a discussion from way back (probably over twelve months ago) about this. It was suggested that among the hundreds of additives in cigarettes there was another addictive substance besides nicotine which could account for the "lacking something" feeling when vaping.
If this is so, maybe we have to just keep vaping to overcome another unknown addiction.

Just a quick note of sympathy - and empathy - Liz Hissie and I have both been going thru a poor-quality vaping period lately. I can't remember what the "missing ingredient" is - maybe it's just poison It's my night-time so I'm too tired to think. scylla

I don't remember anything specific being identified. It was just an idea which was put forward to explain that "something missing" feeling but this feeling does seem to be quite prevalent.
I don't think we'll ever really know, but it could be an explanation.

Scylla and Liz - I know what you mean. Whilst I get a great 'vape' most of the time (when all of the bits are new/fully charged etc.). I think the bit sometimes missing for me is the 'thickness' of the vapour as compared to tobacco 'smoke'. Whenever I get that 'something is missing' moment, for me it doesn't feel like an addiction type need, but more a physical experience shortfall. Not sure that makes sense - but I know what I mean. Thankfully, I haven't missed 'it' enough to make me want to supplement by reverting back to analogues.

Liz, are you thinking of the various discussions about MAOIs (Monoamine oxidase inhibitor) ? "Among the different compounds contained in tobacco smoke, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) have recently been the focus of a particular interest (Berlin and Anthenelli, 2001). Monoamines are neurotransmitters found in the central nervous system. They are involved in sending signals to the brain which regulate sleep, arousal and pleasure ("Dopamine"). The three main monoamines studied by researchers are dopamine (DA), norepinephrine and serotonin. Monoamine oxidase is one enzyme responsible for the degradation of the monoamines. MAOIs are molecules that inhibit monoamine oxidase, and as a result increase the levels of monoamines found in the brain. According to newly developed research, a synergy between nicotine and MAOIs could be of importance for tobacco addiction to set up (Berlin and Anthenelli, 2001). Then, the association between nicotine and MAOI seems to be an appropriate model to study mechanisms underlying tobacco addiction."Lots more info on this ECF thread : - www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/45843-some-notes-nicotine-absorption-addictiveness-maois.html

I've been in the same place.... My first few weeks of vaping were wonderful. Then it started to trail off a bit and I had problems with my sense of taste and the hardware. I even tried puffing on an analogue..yuck. I still have times when vaping doesn't quite cut it for me, everything tastes the same, ie horrible, and I despair. I know this has been said before, somewhere, but vaping in the dark is nowhere near as satisfying as vaping in daylight. I suppose that means there is a visual aspect to our smoking addictions..... Vaping outside on a frosty morning is wonderful..lol These glitches will pass.. Lynda

Thanks for that Chrissie. Following all this scientific info certainly gets the old brain cells working but at the moment I have enough problems sorting out alcohol addiction (not mine I hasten to add) so will come back to this later and in the meantime happily vape away on James's chocolate flavour. I'm such a chocoholic.

Everyone's explanations ring true with me. I rekon it is a combination of a lot of things.
Whatever the reason, I'll remain vaping & never return to the dreaded analogues.
I can now wear my perfume & actually still smell it on my clothes the next day, which is wonderful. Once over, it seemed a waste of time putting perfum on as it always ended up masked by the ciggie smoke.
