What strength of nicotine do you use? There's a really big difference in how much nicotine we can tolerate. I can only take around 10mg (I use 8mg at the moment) and around 2 - 4ml of that a day or I will not sleep for days at a time and have a tight neck feeling that wont go away until I've stopped vaping for a good few hours. As with smoking, one of my cues that I've had too much is that I'm needing the bathroom a lot more often - number one and number two's :-[
Others can vape 42mg no problem at all all day every day. I'd be in A&E if I did that, guaranteed. You could be taking in too much nic.

Could actually be VG, I know of some people who get tummy troubles and the trots from VG. As for probiotics, you wont get much from eating yoghurt. Healthspan do a really good probiotic in capsules that work They're one of the better ones.

Karma- yesterday's cramps were quite bad, and the ibuprofen seemed to help, maybe it was a placebo? Thanks pixie, will have a fiddle with the VG/PG content on next lot of juices I get, see if that helps any. To be honest, im a little disheartened. I took to vaping not only for the money side of things, but for health reasons too, and to get cramps seems to be a bit of a kick in the teeth

Really Boo if they're that bad you really should see a doc. It may not be related to stopping smoking or vaping!

I'm on 18mg- think i should cut down? It's hard to say really - how much nicotine you can take is very personal. It would also depend on how often you vape and how many ml you use in a day. I started on 18mg but I found I was going 3 - 4 days and only getting around 4 hours of sleep because I seem to absorb nicotine at a crazy rate. I dropped to 12mg but I still had a tough time sleeping. Going way down to 8, I found my ideal level for my 2 - 4ml a day vaping habit. If you only vape 1ml a day I'd be taking in more nicotine than you per day with my 2 - 4ml. It's worth trying a lower nic for a few days just to see if it helps at all but you will lose some throat hit stepping down which may be odd for you. In my experience, going from 18mg to 12mg wasn't that noticeable but going to 8mg was noticeable. That being said, you do get used to whatever mg rating you're using. Now 8mg feels like the throat hit I expect, though I do vape at 5v so it's a hot vape. If I take the original 18mg I was used to it now feels too strong a throat hit. Odd but what seems to have happened to me.

Boo- it does sound like possibly too high a nic level, I've found that having gone from 30 rollies a day, I'm ok on 11 mg, even 18 made me a bit queasy. When you say stomach, do you mean stomach, or guts? FWIW, nicotine in low levels has a beneficial effect on IBS, crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis ( from my mum's consultant!) but it can irritate in too high a dose, which varies from person to person. As for nurofen, leave it well alone if you've any GI upset, you can do a world of damage with no symptoms.

This is where researching this kind of stuff gets so frustrating, there's still very little consensus on side effects of vaping. Even just on this short thread it may be 1) too much PG 2) too much VG 3) too much nicotine

Best to see your Dr though, could be a coincidence and something totally different, could be acid reflux, ulcer, coeliac, and numerous other things, best to have a check-up first

Pain at the top of your stomach indicates reflux- don't take any more nurofen, and get to the GP, you probably need omeprazole or similar, don't muck about with OTC stuff. Then you need to work out what's irritating you, whether it's too high a nic level , or one of the components of the juice, or even something completely different
