For those that dont know, I've recently moved back in with mum, and I occasionally work nights. So this morning I get home from work, go out into the conservatory, sit on my settee and vape it whilst I wait for my mums fella to vacate the bathroom.
Anyway, I fall asleep and wake to Lucy, one of my yorkies giving it a tinnee weenee yap. A yap which I know is a "leave my food alone" yap which she usually aims at her bigger sister.
Anyway, at that point I realise the conservatory is reeking of vape. And I mean a massive smell. My eyes go open I sit bolt upright and poo myself that the dogs have got hold of my eliquid whilst I was asleep. Lo and behold, next doors dog had come to visit with its owner and is rummaging around my rucksack containg my eliquid. I'm immediately sick with worry. The house is stinking of vape liquid. So I grab my bag, grapple my box of tricks out and it's all there with the lids still on and my liquid is untouched? I was nearly having heart failure I can tell you.
So what's the smell? My ggts must have leaked when I fell asleep? I see it down the side of the settee, I grab it to check, and throw it across the room. I was instantly burnt!
It was as if it had been in the oven it was that hot. 2 fully charged batteries must have drained it out as it was left on and wedged itself down the settee when i fell asleep. Red hot. I had to wrap a tea towel around it to unscrew it and take it apart.... TWICE. I joke not, it was oven hot. As just with a single t towel was still too impossibly hot to handle. Anyway, burnt my finger that still marked now. Right in the crease of my index finger Moral? Don't fall asleep with device on. Anyway, after changing out the burnt coil. She's up and running and ceramic is unmarked.

eeek phew glad to hear the dogs hadn't got into your liquid, that's something I always get so paranoid about with my boy's they stay at the back of a cupboard in a box (the liquid not the boy's, though I think that may be easier sometimes hehe), it means I have to drag a chair across the kitchen floor everytime I need to top up, it's a relief when they go to bed and I can have my liquid sat in front of me hope them fingers feel better soon.

I had never considered the possibility of fire from an e cig, as mine have always been either auto or a manual button..i guess the button could get wedged on..never tried that to see what happens...but anyway..glad all was well in the end and no serious harm done..although the burnt hand sounds painful :-[
I thought that one of the benefits of e cigs was reduced fire hazard. When i was a smoker i did occasionally fall asleept with a burning cig and nearly fry in my bed. I think that is not uncommon..a St Ives artists Barbara Hepworth did just that, it gave me nightmares when i read of it.

You wouldn't have thought it possible would you but of course thats gonna be the outcome! The heat is just gonna radiate eventually. But amazed not even a mark. Not even on the ceramic. Although the wick and coil were shot.

Thank goodness you and the doggies were ok Jay! I've burnt more holes in clothes and furnishings than I care to think about with cigarettes over the years . . . thankfully not an experience I've repeated with ecigs.

The Provari and LT wouldn't do this I presume as they have a cut out timer on them, is this right?

Scary. I always remove the carto/tank before I go to bed every night and leave it standing upright in an egg cup around 12" away from my e cig right at the back of my computer desk. Over cautious probably.

No that aint over cautious if it works. I was just stupid. Fell asleep on the settee after a night duty. One minute I was very happily vaping, next a few hours had past! But I will be ultra paranoid now with regard to my juice and its location out of the dogs reach. Plus I've got that organic juice which I will definatley be settling with as its lush and it comes in glass bottles.

Jayjay, what a scary story, thanks for sharing! Glad you're all ok, but it has taught me that I need to get organised, buy a box or something for supplies and stop leaving things lying around #icon_nono#

First thing I'm sorting out to. A proper box of tricks. Not a little card board box. I think what happened was. Next doors dog walked into the conservatory, smelt the vape. Tried to find the source maybe, then went to my bag as my box of tricks has had leaking this and that in it. Its possible it was unconnected of course maybe he was just looking for left over sweetie rappers or something. But glad lucy spotted he weren't meant to be fishing for food. Anyway, heres my war scars. Can't see much but there defo burns nearly 24 hours later. & lh4.googleusercontent.com/-QGx52L_B_jA/UA2-WWtlPII/AAAAAAAABn4/lPKIl3ZOPdQ/s1600/2012-0-[23%25252022.10.44.jpg
