It could be loose soldering or could be a defunct component. It will only go into protection mode when it senses that the battery is discharged below 3.2 volts..
I could test it at work using a calibrated power supply and an oscilloscope or resolder if I can see any dry/soldering, but repairing it by replacing components is beyond my meager skills I am afraid.

Great stuff Macca and thanks very much.Ive just grabbed another from Daz so atleast im now guaranteed a 3 month warranty with this one.I will send it off to you to be looked at as a diagnosis from someone like yourself who knows alot more than me about when things go wrong would be great.Even if it cant be fixed(which obviously i would pay you for if it could)It will just be interesting to know why it failed in the way it did.Im giving the kick the benefit of the doubt here by buying a second so i hope it wont dissapoint me again.

Nice one John,i didnt realise that to be honest. It says on Safercigs that only a 90 day warranty is on the kick which is just over three months. So is it only me that has had a kick fail??I would love to hear from anyone who has also had problems. How long has everyone else been using the kick? I will send you a p.m now Macca to get your details for postage and thanks once again.

I've had mine since they first came out Ian, no problems whatsoever . . . but I don't use the highest setting. Between 8-9watts is the extent of my needs.

Thanks Perpy.I wonder if ive buggered it up by having it set at its maximum level then?In saying that though,i thought it would just adjust the wattage accordingly without issue.I vape all my VVs at a minimum of 5.5v most of the time so i pray this kick can deliver what i need it to do.Im very confused with it and it seems like its just giving me the output of the battery, its certainly lost all of its kick anyway :)I hope the one from Daz is going to be better, fingers crossed.

Been running two of them from the very first batch Ian, neither have put a foot wrong to date- would be lost without the buggas

It must just be my luck then Blakey. ::)I love the new Legacy with the kick inside but without it a 3.7v mechanical mod is useless for me.I know i could use 1.5ohm cartos/coils but even they dont hit strong enough for me at 3.7v.Oh well,Daz has performed his usual magic and my new kick is in the post, so i should be happy again and sorted for vapefest. It sums up my luck lately,my DID never arrived and i have been refunded today after waiting for over a month.

Have you tried running the Kick at a lower setting rather than full?

Yes i have tried it at every setting Des and it vapes exactly the same....crap.It was performing perfect and hitting hard for a few days before finally giving up.As i understood it you just set the kick to whatever wattage setting gives you the vape you like and then the kick sorts the rest.It should mean that i could put on, for example, a 1.5ohm Boge or 3ohm and the vape should be exactly the same.As alot of people say,you simply set it and forget it.I cant see how i could be playing outside its power range as i had it turned to its highest setting.Surely alot of people have it set to its highest setting to get max throathit and warmer vape?

I think i will lower it a little to be on the safe side when this new one comes. When it was set on full power using a 3ohm Boge XL the vape felt like it was around 5.4-5.5v on my VV mods but slightly better and i enjoyed the same perfect hit every single time without fail. Its certainly a fantastic little module, just hope this new one can last a while.Knowing my luck lately it will arrive D.O.A.
