Lol MM Lilac, it wasn't that expensive - I really had to shop around for quotes & find someone that would do the work just how I wanted it.

Ooooo, Rufus is gorgeous Lisa - I love his little jacket! Chris, your garden is absolutely beautiful and what a make over! I bet the kitties adore it! Speaking of which, how do everyone's pets fare with the fireworks? I have a terrible time with Sammy, he's totally petrified - so I'm holed up in the kitchen with him, TV is blaring, he's in a worn tshirt of mine in his crate with a fleece over it like a black out curtain. Last year I spent the night trying to sleep on the kitchen floor next to his 'bunker'.

Oh poor Sammy, have you tried using either the DAP diffuser, collar or spray. I got Rufus the collar because he has seperation anxiety and it has really calmed him down. Right now there are a few fireworks going off and hes is happily playing with his sock ball :-)

I haven't tried the collar Lisa - but I've tried the daps plug-ins, Bach's Rescue Remedy and a couple of other herbal treatments, plus one year sedatives from the vets - never again with those as it made him even worse trying to fight the sedatives. This is about the best I've whittled it down to, the tshirt & crate/bunker . . . . thing is he's 10 1/2 now and has been petrified of fireworks ever since I got him at 2 years old. I think old age and deafness is going to be the only real cure, plus where I live they blooming love fireworks, started last Saturday night, every night so far this week and I expect there'll be this weekend's quota as well to endure.

I've had similar problems with dogs in the past. De-sensitising can help, as can aromatherapy and other alternative therapies. My current boy has benefited from the canine equivalent of CBT. Reward the good bits of behaviour and ignore the 'bad' bits, encourage them to look to you for solutions. Thundershirts can be very helpful. Google for sites to read about them. Lynda
