My Akita/boxer cross, Amber, used to be terrified of fireworks....she would shake with fear....over the years i discovered the answer was to give her a tot of whisky, stay close to her, but ignore her....
worked every time...Tyson & Murphy however, don't gee their ginger about fireworks, so no probs...lol

Yer, I ignore Sammy too Lilac, but stay close by - one year I did try and give him some Baileys, but ended up covered in the stuff myself, zero went into him!
Off to google thundershirts, thanks Lynda >>>>>>>>>>>>

The review videos look good Perpy, i'd never heard of such things, wish they'd been around when i had Amber... however, my son's g/f has just posted on Facebook that her Ben was scared, so i've sent her this link doorsteppaws.co.uk/html/thundershirts.html

The thundershirts are meant to be good, you could always just get a small fitting t-shirt and try that first.

What a muddle I'm in - wot with all the fireworks exploding outside - I may be in the wrong thread even I wanted to post a piccie of Chrissie's cats on the garden furniture and couldn't find it, found it on the old laptop I'm supposed to be selling this free listing weekend, but couldn't get it off until loads of updates done. It's worth the wait, girlz scylla

Lol Scylla From left to right - Merlin, Sam & Isaac. All sitting on the my "bargain" eBay bench set that turned up as just loads of planks of wood with the bolts missing Seller did make good by sending me the fixings - but wasn't that easy putting it all together.

Lovely picture Scylla & a lovely bench Chris, despite the construction trauma! Well, we survived last night's fireworks relatively unscathed, thanks to a worn tshirt and a crate covered with a throw. Spent the night on the kitchen floor next to the crate, slept quite well . . . . . Sammy has yet to emerge from it . . . . best get him out as it was 5pm yesterday that he last had a widdle.

I have to confess here that Mungo doesn't actually have a thunder shirt. He doesn't seem to need one... What he DOES have is a rather snug reindeer costume....It was bought for last year's Xmas fancy dress at dog school but the snow put paid to the party. He's put on a little weight since then and it's a struggle to get it on him but he loves it! (not so keen on the antlers!) Something about his demeanor changes once it is on... He has yet to wear it in public. It was actually a child's costume bought in Matalan for under £5 so I can see that a child's tee shirt would work well too, just make sure it is really snug. Somewhere on the WWW will be information about wrapping a nervous dog with ace bandages for the same effect. I suppose it is the same principle as swaddling babies.. Lynda

Lol Lynda!!!
Well as it's confession time . . . . . tonight Sammy is wearing a doggy England football shirt . . . . purchased at the time of the last European Footie Championships, shortened as it was a bit too long in the body and got in the way of the boy doggy doings equipment!
Seems to be working so far as tonight's fireworks have just kicked off and all is calm here.

You could have cut a slot in it rather than waste all that material, Perpy - he's have been a hit with all the bitches The fireworks are very vigorous outside here tonight, so big hugs for all {{{our doggies}}} scylla

Lol Scylla! On the very first outing of 'the shirt' I hadn't realised quite how much it impeded the ummmm bits, so by the time we'd finished our walk the garment was . . . . well a little soggy, and had to go straight into the washing machine. I'll certainly take a piccie when it's a bit calmer here Lisa, been mental here tonight and he's all happily snuggled up in his blackout bunker.
