Sod's Law - the one I have been waiting for has come up on the new list today!!! Incredible!!! Am very excited for you MM - but totally, totally sympathetic about the upheaval and its implications. Cannot wait for you to go and have a recce As for the "no cooker required" - my SO didn't get one supplied in his housing association flat, but there would have to be provision for the installation, like gas/electric points. If they leave a space for an oven you could get a cupboard or build shelves into it, or a trolley or summat Very exciting! scylla x

Thanks Chrissie, I am panicking now - looking around at everything. Wondering whether any removal firm will cope with all my stuff - wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the three flights of stairs (33 steps!). I know someone will - good job I have been saving for this event!! SCYLL - the pipework etc for a cooker will already be there I guess but I don't want a grotty opening left for me. I know, I know - I'm worrying unnecessarily but then there's the utilities and the art exhibitions......oh! Lordy I'm going to hibernate till it's all over!! Can't though - can I ?? MM

No (((MM))) I'm afraid you can't hibernate Lots of people live in flats without lifts, so I'm sure it shouldn't be too difficult to find a removal form to move you Just do one thing at a time & start by ringing round local firms for a quote to move you.

Calm down MM, take it one step at a time. There is an old Chinese saying: "A journey of 1,000 miles, begins with one small step".

Uncross everything Scyll.. not for me. It was not very far from here so I sorta knew it, but it was not in the block I would've like to have been. Nice grounds around it, still near the main road but didn't hear the traffic. The Housing lady who showed me around realised it wouldn't suit. If it had been in one the smaller blocks, it may have worked. This one was on second floor - ok there was a lift, and I asked to walk down the stairs when we came out. Not nearly as bad as my steep flights here but still too many. It had been newly refurbished - quite well. The rooms - not as big as here but then I expected that. The kitchen was ok - they supply a fridge and cooker. Told the lady I didn't want a cooker and she said that would be okay - they would remove it. Asked where washing machine would go - she said communal one down stairs. Horror for me!! Went to have a look- very small room. Can't bear the thought of sharing w/machine!! There were only two machines and tumble dryers underneath. Lots of notices on wall saying when they can or cannot be used!!! So that was the end for me. Okay one down......................await next instalment. MM
