So true Dee. I regularly have a moan now when companies do things like this. Usually there was something in the original agreement, buried in the small print - and not made clear that it was there - which signed you up to an ongoing policy/agreement.

My BT issue of last week - where they were saying that I was using too much 'internet juice' (only because I was watching the birdies) - and they were about to start charging me huge extras. I phoned and had a rant - also mentioning Virgin and AOL as alternatives, and lo-and-behold, I could get the all-singing-dancing package for the same price! These companies do rely upon people not totally understanding,, nor questioning, their original agreement.

Banks and Building Societies are the same. I was recently mortified to find that my Nationwide savings account had dropped from paying 2.5% (pathetic anyway - but such are interest rates at the moment) to 0.5%. I phoned up, voiced my dissatisfaction, and again, lo-and-behold: 'Are you aware of this product? You could transfer your savings to that." So now, back to 2.5%. It took me two hours to sort it all though. meanwhile, whilst closing one account and opening the other - my saving were in banking limbo - receiving nothing!!
