Womble, I would assumes that you are some sort of an expert or amateur photographer?
I however would be the first to admit my photography needs improving. I don’t believe I said I thought my work was C*** I can’t see reference to that statement. If I thought that... there is no way I would have asked for help on here for some votes.
As for me stopping taken photos I don’t know where you got that from, it’s a hobby I enjoy and have no intentions of stopping.
If you are referring to me saying that I would not enter a competition again it’s not because I think my photos are c***, it’s just that I take photos for my pleasure, and purely as a hobby for myself. I would only expect to receive votes on merit and not on popularity, and judging by the comments, that are exactly what has happened.
I would have liked your post to offer some constructive criticism.
As you have said it’s difficult to capture one of these birds so composition is really never going to be spot on unless you’re very lucky or very good.
if I’m totally honest I do have better photos I could have posted, of foxes or many other birds, but I went though all 54 pages of the entry’s and found there to be lacking in a woodpecker so I trawled though mine and posted that one.
it was taken in Feb. this year the weather was freezing I believe that day was around -10 light was not good I was using a 500mm lens, it was a hard photo to take in the circumstances.
Anyway I think between us we have killed the thread, so would like to thank all that gave me a vote on merit, and I thank you for your honestly.
Best regards
Trevor

I'm not sure how to phrase this....... but your picture is ok, but it's not that good. Sorry, it's not I know that people from here will want to support you and that's great and I know that taking a photo of a woodpecker is difficult....... but honestly, it shouldn't be a prize winning photo. Best of luck, but winning a photo competition shouldn't be a popularity contest, which I suspect this is. Not just you, but other photos seem to have the same kind of following. So I guess you won't be surprised that I'm not going to vote for you, but anyone else can vote for my photo which is number (joking ) But if anyone does want to vote for this on a popularity contest, then you get my vote Womble, I have never posted or never entered any of my photos into any competition before and probably never will again. Let me explain I’m a very sensitive person somewhat over sensitive, and lack any kind of self confidence. However I agree it’s not a world class photo and I have been told by a certain person that all my photos are C*** so After much persuasion, from friends and family I found a pair of ball’’s and posted it I don’t expect to win anything with it other than gain more votes that the chap, who like you called my work like it is, I’m pleased to say that I have blown him out of the water he is on 7 votes. It’s not up to the public the final decision is with photography judges.

How difficult was it to get the pic? I hear woodpeckers in my local woods but never get close enough to see one like that Ellen, I’m disabled, and I’m lucky enough to have a nature reserve a mile from home, I spend a lot of time sitting in the bird hide, it’s better than watching day-time TV I spend many days down there for hours at a time. some days I don’t even fire a shot but most days I fire 200 shots and only end up keeping a few. Good job it’s not film.

Admin please remove post if it breaks the rules.
After much persuasion, I have entered a photo into The Anglia Co-operative Regional Wildlife Calendar Competition 2013. I wonder as this is my first time on doing anything like this if some of you would kindly vote for it please. If you wanted to vote please click the link, www.coopcalendar.co.uk/wp-content/plugins/wp-photocontest/viewimg.php?img_id=777&post_id=117 I’m on page 1 with 17 votes, it’s a picture of a Woodpecker on a tree, called Kings Dyke. Many kind thanks please note all, After you have voted you will receive an email from the co-op to confirm your vote, not until you click on the email will your vote be counted. Admin please remove post if it breaks the rules.

A simple test, get 2 people one that smokes and one that vapes. Tell them to each take a good long inhale on their "devices" and to blow out the smoke/vapor through a tissue. Look at the tissues after and compare. Yes I go along with that DD or ask them to blow both into the facility of a non smoker and let them decide which is better. My wife has never smoked, and for the last 27 years has nagged me about the smell… now I’m vaping she wants to start, she loves the smell’s in fact I think she can actually smell them more than I can taste them.

I do hope this post doesn’t get me into trouble, it’s only meant to put a point over, with kindness.
Well I for one am truly grateful for the negative posts; I have been following this thread with a passion.
I really wanted to go and it was not until the day that I was unable to make it. With both of us being disabled with mobility issues reading One’s post and the one on UKVapers it’s a good job we didn’t make the 4 hour round trip.
I’m very thankful for the people that have contributed to this thread, however I also see your point Prep’s, if I was Wayne so soon after the event reading these negative posts I think I would be most upset, but let’s hope he is not as sensitive a chap as me.
However I do hope in time, he is able to take on board some of the comments for next year, it. I was really upset that my health wouldn’t allow me to go on the day, but now seeing some of the photos, I think it was not meant to be. My main aim was to meet people and purchase a Provari, with a nice tank of some sorts.
I can think of nothing worse that being made to stand is long queue under a tent then having people bumping into you all the time, and having mobility issues it sounds like I would not have been able to get to the vendor’s stall anyway.
I hope Wayne is able to take on board just how big this venue is getting year by year, and it’s only going to get bigger, I was chatting to one of the biggest vendors there on Friday and they were expecting a maximum of 500 people and from what I have read there were at least 800 to o1000.
I’m sad I didn’t go…. but also pleased if that makes sense.
Trevor
Ps congratulations to all behind the scenes, and all those that went and had a good day.

I’ve just had a look at this and it’s still showing as a stock item; it came out at £114.84 now I know there will be import taxes at around £30!! So it makes it around £144.84 Is that still a good deal? after searching around the web and forum I cant find a UK seller, if there is one? I would be prepared to pay a bit more.
