I'm not often on the shop floor, usually just going through to the smoking/vaping area, but it was hilarious. Men eyeing each other up, ready for a fight over the 'bunch', looking at the flowers, already with chocolates in the basket... and the 'card' aisle was stupid... why do they leave it to 'the day' |

And also a wee time to reflect on Mums who sadly are no longer with us, but are none the less always thought of very fondly, more especially today. ... but I'd still like to hope all Mums on here have had a good day. Valentines Day didn't cost me  , nor Mothers Day, but I guess the grandkids will expect en Easter egg or two... been an expensive few weeks for some |

And if that money wasn't going to the players, where would it go? Into the pockets of those already rich enough to own football clubs. Although Barca is a poor example for that point!
I don't begrudge players their salaries, they were fortunate enough to be born in an era where football is a business first and then a sport, that's all. They aren't to blame for all of the TV and sponsorship deals flying around. Sent from my X5pro using proboards Sorry BrenD but I do... although, as you say, the bigger problem is the 'building up' of the commercial sports business, with which I agree in your reasoning but don't believe it is right. I just can't get my head around people paying such stupid fees for 'entrance tickets', 'TV subscriptions', 'club memorabilia' etc etc. Have we all 'dumbed down' to such a level! God help us if that is the case. I would like to say much more, but rules are rules... I just hate the way this 'commercial' world is going Reminds me of a Bond movie... where 'Trump Global' rules the world... where's my tablets |

If supporters stopped buying stupid shirts and paying ridiculous entrance fees (for the average fan) perhaps it might come back into the 'real' world. We can only hope. But I like to think I'd handle my wealth and fame differently. But when you read stories like the one in the link above, you have to despair of such an immense change, especially after reading about certain people such as the 'Sunderland player', can't even bring myself to type his name, and others recently. I realise it's not just footballers, I've just read about one of Bernie Ecclestone's son-in-laws, a billionaire who drives around London with a fleet of top end motors and bodyguards in tow, has just bought a £3.5 million Lambourghini... I bet the bus still gets there quicker As my old teacher would say... 'discuss amongst yourselves'... I've lit the fuse.

yahoo2u2 I hear you. 'Life' as we used to know it, has gone to 'hell in a hand cart'. I've also had a week from hell, swore in front of a female store manager (unintentionally) but was totally pi**ed off, told a store security guard to **** *** after finding my car keys and wallet on me in a random search of staff, and tried to give me a lecture. My attitude to work has changed so much recently. Why do we bother? Teaching is so important, and I really hope you can find it in you to carry on your valuable work. It's just that, in today's world, the priorities have changed... for the worse. Really hope things improve for you... at least I can tell them to stuff it.
