Someone on FB was sharing his address and asked people to send birthday cards, so I did. I thought he was a great guy and I am glad he found so much recognition although a bit late in life  I just wish we could bring that generation back... but our young boys and girls are doing the same, albeit in different circumstances, and I thank them and hope they return to their families. What a bl**dy world we live in. |

For those that didn't see it last year, Bernard Jordan was the WW2 veteran that 'absconded' from his care home to attend the D-Day ceremonies in France. The Good Old Days, teachers, police and any passing adult could knock the snot out of you, if you went home and told Mum/Dad you got another slap. Worse punishment was from elderly English teacher, 500 word essay about the inside of a table tennis ball without using the words white or empty. They really were the good old days, we all knew where we were in the system. Now the kids think they can take a gun and change the world, with their very limited knowledge of the world. So very, very sad. Let's hope things will change |

I had a female primary school teacher that used to live a few doors away, and quite often took me to school in her car (a novelty at the time)... but she still taught me a lesson by taking my socks down and giving me 'the ruler' for being a prat, and standing me in the corner. In grammar school, I had a teacher (actually there was a few) that used to grab you by the scruff of the neck and beat you up in the aisle. I still love them dearly for teaching me 'values' and 'respect'. |

qsplan... I don't think it's off-topic, and is within the spirit of the OP. Today, unfortunately, we are a me, me, me society. I realise my posts on these topics are usually negative, but I don't apologise for that, because until we think of others more than ourselves, it will only get worse... and will lead to serious implications. Your comment on ethics is true, I think a lot of people don't even know the meaning of the word. I'll stop now before you all get suicidal.
