Well I've spent some money!! Not much I admit but I thought that to help me cut down on my 3 ciggies a day that I would up my battery and also my nicotine level so today I ordered from Vape Escape a Joyetech eGo-C Twist VV 900mah in Stainless Steel and 30ml Bottles of Silky 24mg juice plus some Boge 510 Low Resistance Cartomisers also in Stainless Steel so it should look a nice set up as well.
So that lot should keep me happy, I'm hoping that the combination of 24mg nicotine and more umph from the Twist might, just might put me down to just the one or two ciggies a day, if it doesn't then I'm still not bothered as I'm sure as hell going to enjoy myself vaping away on that combo. I checked with Jason first before putting in my final order that they would all be compatible to each other and he said they would so hopefully this time tomorrow night I will be sitting here with a big cheesy grin on my face - I shall report back tomorrow. ;-)
I've got some Menthol which I mix a little with the Silky and gives a really nice taste, it should work out the same as what I'm vapeing now but with more vapour and more of a throat hit which I'm hoping will satisfy me more than what I'm using at the moment and hence not requiring all 3 ciggies I'm smoking at the moment - we shall see. I will give it a couple of days and if I like the Twist then I will order another one so one is charging while I'm using the other.

Congratulation Graham . My uncle stopped dead from a 60 a day habit after he was diagnosed with emphysema. The disease got him in the end, but not until he was in his mid 80s so it probably gave him something like 25 years more. I also remember Denis Norden saying he stopped dead from 60 a day when he realised that he'd filled his car's ashtray in the time he'd been stuck at traffic lights in London. I've never gone beyond 30 a day and I never understood how they could just stop dead like that. Yep, I have no doubt that I have done untold damage to my lungs and arteries from not just the amount of cigarettes I have smoked a day but also the 55 odd years of smoking but all I can do now is damage limitation. It might do bugger all but at least it's worth a shot. I must admit that I am feeling absolutely fine at the moment, I don't have a smokers cough and I can hold my breath for 2 minutes under water while swimming (proved on holiday this year ), God knows how I can manage that after all these years but I can. But can I stop smoking just like that? Nope. As I said before, I'm now happy with that and can work with it but I do admire the people who can stop just like that but not for me I'm afraid. I want to be happy while I'm in the process of giving up and I genuinely believe that for me then I will eventually succeed because I'm not stressed out over it. We're all different and we all need our different props to get through some of the utter crap that life can throw at us sometimes and 3 cigarettes plus vaping suits me just fine for the time being. I couldn't agree more. Having a positive attitude like Graham is so important when switching. I actually adopted his thinking and it too has helped me. So, thank you Graham. No worries mate, it just makes getting through this initial part of quitting a little easier - glad you feel a bit more positive than you did because I know you were struggling a bit like me to begin with, well done!! Graham the bloke at the newsagents has put up a missing persons poster seriously well done bud That made me laugh, cheers buddy. Great news Graham. You may want to keep your rewards box away from your signifcant other. My wife decided to get a new dishwasher as I had saved so much > +1 a new tumble dryer turned up at ours the other day Are you mad!! The money is all mine I tell you, all mine. Mwah, Mwah, Mwah, Mwah, Mwah. Well done Graham, you're doing so well. Don't worry if those 3 ciggies a day are helping you get by. It's far better to be only smoking 3 a day compared to the 60 you were having. You should be feeling really proud of yourself. I hope you're planning on treating yourself to something really nice with the money you've saved. I have indeed, a two week holiday for the both of us in a 5 star hotel is now booked for Madeira in August next year - and it will all be paid for by my £50 a week savings, how cool is that! Thanks for all the very positive comments people, it really does help. Graham

Great to see your posts Graham, and congrats on a brilliant effort. It's amazing how much difference those three guilt-free fags have made to your success And do you know what? I think that is the crux of the matter. Allowing myself those three cigarettes a day has taken all that pressure off me and I can now choose to either smoke them or not depending on how I am feeling at the time which makes so much difference. Before, just having one was making me feel so guilty (as you can remember possibly from my previous posts) and I was feeling a lot of pressure in letting myself down and also others around me and of course, you kind folk on here. Once I got it into my head that vaping was not a smoking cessation method then I was fine, stopping smoking is more than just vaping taking it's place - I have to say here and now that this is just my case, not everyone because obviously some people can do it - but for me (and everyone is different) then these 3 cigarettes are almost like my safety valve. I have no doubt that I will eventually stop these cigarettes eventually by decreasing gradually but I'm in no hurry, I will do it but in my own time and when I'm comfortable about it, that way I will succeed. Even if I had only been smoking 20 a day then that's still 17 cigarettes I wouldn't be smoking a day which is pretty good but smoking 60 a day then going to 3 a day is brilliant in my minds eye, I'm happy with that. Oh thank you people, that really helps me. But you're all doing the same as me, you've all given up or almost given up like me so we've all done bloody well getting off the weed. Non smokers just do not know how hard giving up is, it's far beyond just the nicotine addiction, it's far more than that as you all know. Good stuff Graham and it's great to see you back and posting again. Mind if I ask. When you did smoke 60 a day, were you pretty much always smoking? Some days I could smoke a lot, but I don't think I've ever managed 60 in one day. Just curious more than anything. I was actually smoking more than that a few years back but smoking 60 a day is not chain smoking but not far from it. The thing is, some people can make a cigarette last ages because they don't draw on it that hard and don't take many puffs, but I will pull on it hard and take a lot of puffs too so a cigarette doesn't take long for me to smoke so I would get through more - does that all make sense? Not sure that it does now that I've re-read it back but hopefully you will get what I mean. It seemed that I just needed to smoke another so soon after the other was because the one I had just smoked hadn't given me enough nicotine (even though I was on quite high strength cigarettes) and also, if I'm honest, it was just a great feeling. But luckily I can get all that from the vaping, I have obviously had to have a change of mind set but once that is sorted then you're away. Graham

...I'd let you all know how I'm getting on so far.
I haven't logged in for a while as things seem to have now settled down and I'm now into a good routine. I'm allowing myself a maximum 3 cigarettes a day which has really helped me, not because I can have 3 but because I know I can have them without feeling bad about it which makes a hell of a difference. Some days it may only be the one I have on other days it will be two but never more than 3 so in that context then that's brilliant to the 60 a day I was smoking.
Next up is that I'm still putting £50 a week away religiously into my 'Rewards' box and today I reached the magic £500 in cash, this gives me so much inspiration to carry on and I'm not missing the 60 a day one little bit, in fact I really don't know how I did smoke that much but I did. It's strange but even only smoking the max of 3 is enough for me now.
I still haven't spent any more money on shiny things and still using the same stuff that I bought originally with the occasional purchase of carts from Vape Escape so vaping for me is incredibly inexpensive.
Anyway, I'm not going to trundle on anymore, I just thought that I'd pop in and let you know how I'm doing.
Keep up the vaping people!
Graham

I don't think I will be putting away the cash saved, with 2 kids no matter how much cash I have it seems to vanish but life will certainly be easier. Especially if we both manage to stop with vaping. Hubby is using my spare battery until his kit arrives so that's £12 not spent on cigs today already. Excellent! Well done. Graham

You're going to be OK with this vapeing malarky Cornflakes, it will take time to get the right taste but it will come. I vape nothing but menthol now because it's so simple - you either like it or you don't and although I didn't like smoking menthol cigarettes I love vaping it - very strange. It leaves a nice refreshing taste in my mouth and is not too harsh. I'm also getting the nicotine from it (sometimes too much because I chug on for too long because it is so nice and I forget ) The great thing for me now is with this weeks £50 put by I've now got £350 stashed away since September and will have £1000 come Christmas weekend so for me financially it's been great )as well as my health of course). Keep going - you're doing great!! Graham

Hi Cornflakes and welcome. You may have received your Riva by now and probably chugging away on it - if so, then well done!! After my e-type cigs I too went for the Riva and also a SD, I actually now prefer the SD but that's just a preference thing rather than being right or wrong. I wouldnt worry too much if you need the odd cigarette now and again during the initial start of gaping, if you can go without then all well and good but don't do what I did and beat yourself up over it if you do have one. I'm limiting myself to a max of 3 cigarettes a day now which is a saving of 57 I'm not smoking and that mind set gets me through the initial stopping smoking thing. There will come a point in time when I will think that what is the point of smoking just 3 a day - I might as well not smoke them at all. Enjoy your Riva mate, you won't be disappointed. Graham

Hi addict, I'm fairly new to this too but if it were me I would give the small kit a try first as it's probably all set up for you (did it come with some pre filled carts?) if so then all you need do is screw a cart onto the battery and away you go, it will at least give you some idea what vaping is all about until the weekend when you can try the twist out. I personally wouldn't recommend starting with the twist just in case you get the setting wrong and be put off by the result you get. Just my 2 penny worth. Graham

I totally agree with all that everyone has said and it's reassuring to know that some of you are still smoking a few a day like me. Now that I've had my rethink then I'm actually fine when I light up one of my '3 a day'. I don't feel guilty anymore which is great. I will eventually stop I have no doubt about that but at the moment the system I have in place now is working very well for me and I'm not craving for more than the 3 a day I have limited myself to. I've got a load of menthol carts coming from Vape Escape today so that should keep me happy for a good month at least in which time that means that there will be another £200 put in my 'Rewards' pot and estimated last night that I will have £800 in it by Christmas. I should be putting more than £50 a week in it as it was costing me more than £50 a week for a 60 a day habit but I'm also allowing for buying the occasional packet of JPS Blacks and vaping stuff so I think that £50 is a realistic figure. Good init!! Graham

Graham, i did exactly what you are doing... i went from nearly a pack a day to 2 or three... this went on for months and then all of a sudden i felt comfortable to drop those odd ones ...you'll get there mate That's great because that's exactly what I'm hoping that will happen to me too. Well I guess everyone is different and some folk can just pack up and go straight on to vaping (which I did initially) but I think I must have just been kidding myself, at the moment these one or two cigarettes a day just take the edge off things for me so that's fine by me - is that what you feel? Graham So what if we are having a few cigs. It's not as bad as it used to be is it? Just be happy with what you've achieved so far. I am Oh I am glad mate, there's no getting away with that, I'm over the moon with my progress so far and I know that it can only get better. Graham

I'm still having a few and am really pleased that I've cut down so much. I smoked as much as you. Well I guess everyone is different and some folk can just pack up and go straight on to vaping (which I did initially) but I think I must have just been kidding myself, at the moment these one or two cigarettes a day just take the edge off things for me so that's fine by me - is that what you feel? Thanks chaps and chapesses. This forum is like having a great big team of councillors on hand to help you talk things through, way up the good and bad points and just doing that makes you feel so much better - brilliant!! Well done to you all. Graham
