I read about these (I read A LOT about these) www.thundershirtforcats.com/and they seem a possibility (there are some hilarious youtube videos). As I have already spent the equivalent of the national debt of a small country on these kittens, I was a bit reluctant to shell out £30 -ish on something that may have no effect. However, I'd just resigned myself to making one when I was in the pound shop and noticed they had little jackets for tiny dogs so I bought one, thinking I could modify it and see if it worked. I tried it on the co-operative kitten without altering it (the chest strap wrapped right round him and fastened on top). IT WORKS! Mind you, I still haven't worked our how on earth to catch the evil twin and put it on him, but if ever I do, hopefully it will calm him down.

We got two new cuddly kittens just over a month ago. One is a delight. The other...well, since getting them, I've picked him up twice. On the first occasion (bearing in mind he was 10 weeks old) he bit through my nail bed and ripped my right arm to shreds in about 2 seconds. Round 2, he went through my right palm like a knife through butter. Last week, on their suggestion, I took him to the vets to make sure there was no physical reason for his refusal to be touched. I chased him around for a good 10 minutes before cornering him and getting him into the carrier. Not a peep after that, and when we took the lid off the carrier at the vets, not a peep either. Mind you, he was seriously petrified. We're just about back on tolerating terms again now, a week later. That's me and the cat, not me and the vet. The vet thinks I'm delusional. Or a self-harmer.

In my experience of forums - and I do have a fair bit elsewhere - it seems to hold true that if 50 % of members are happy with something and 50% aren't, then you've got it about right! Lets face it, if you make the change then you just reverse the happies and unhappies

Lol, it is funny now I know it's a joke, and the bit about do they need to steep did make me wonder but other than that it sounded genuine and I didn't want you to embarrass yourself! So I embarrass myself instead lol! In my defense I've been up all night in agony and am on new strong painkillers that are making me pretty out of it so am allowed to be a bit slow!!! Hope you feel better soon. And thanks for trying to save me from myself - although I think it may be too late!

I am a newbie. I would like to make an offer as I would like to get into mods. Please can someone with more experience tell me: Are these bats a 510 fitting? Can I buy spares easily? I have read quite a lot about having spare bats so I am not left without when they are charging, but is seven too many? Do I have to steep them? I am very confused.

Oops! I hope no-one gets the impression that I was suggesting people are anything other than welcoming to newbies: if so, that was absolutely not what I meant! :-[ My point was simply that it's sometimes hard for some people to feel comfortable in a new place, whether that place is real or virtual. However nice people are to you, it can feel a bit tricky to jump in. That's not a reflection on the regulars here, it's just that some people find it easy, others not. Brian, I'm polishing my paypal account as we speak.

Can I say something as a relative newbie? I feel I can say this because I haven't used the classifieds at all up to now. However, who knows, that time may come... It's often kind of difficult, however welcoming a forum may be, for some people to "break in" to an established community. Lurking is a way to get a feel for things, but unlike standing in a corner at the pub or a party, no-one can see you doing it, so you're only "visible" if you post. However, most of the time when you're new you haven't a lot to say. It can be a bit intimidating to post nothing but questions and requests for help/advice, and just being a newbie means that you are far more likely to be "taking" than "giving" because you haven't accumulated much knowledge to pass on. I can see that if someone is putting up a particularly sought-after piece of kit for sale then it would be nice if it went to a proper contributor to the site, and not just a passing chancer, but perhaps the minimum posts limit may have a negative effect. Maybe not, but I think it's wise to be cautious about putting too many obstacles in the way of newbies. I'll get me coat.

Smokers are an endangered species around me..I rarely see any. Either that, or I'm unconsciously doing "B". I'm afraid when I'm out and about I am usually too busy doing my own thing to pay any attention to what's going on around me, so it's not JUST smokers I don't notice....I'm an equal opportunities ignorer.

I must be unique, here. I haven't had a cold AT ALL for a couple of years, and when I have had colds in the recent past, they've been pretty feeble ones. I'm actually dreading what might happen now I have stopped smoking, because my colds have always been significantly worse during my previous non-smoking periods. In fact, and I used it as a "get out of jail free" card for years afterwards, I once went to my GP with a really bad cough when I was off cigarettes, and she informed me that stopping would very likely have made things worse, because, as smoke is an irritant, your throat compensates by producing more mucus, and so when that stops, your throat isn't as lubricated, so your cough hurts more. Hopefully, however, from what others have said, vaping might help reduce some of the symptoms. In my case, though, I'm resigned to probably getting a cold soon..
