Another of my musical heroes, a great singer/songwriter and guitarist with The Eagles, so saddened by this, RIP Glenn

Poor Bloke, nobody wants to see this happen. As for calling for e-cigs to be banned... that's just a wind up. No mention of other types of Lithium battery casualties. Nobody is calling for mobile phones to be banned. Isn't it time the media educated people about charging batteries? They would probably call for bans of phones if only 5% of the population used them and everyone else cried wolf

My son`s EGO blew up while charging overnight, not much damage and no one hurt but that is one thing he wont ever do again. Yes I should know better and think I'll stop doing it  Then this thread has been worthwhile, good choice jtc

Worth mentioning that a lot of mods with enclosed batteries are not supplied with a matched charger and can be charged on all sorts of chargers with all sorts of current limits. I believe an Ipad charger has a 5 amp rate which could take longer to shut down in the event of a problem charging.

A lot of people aren`t technically aware and there isn`t enough warning on kit, especially kit with enclosed batteries which when aged will probably be more likely to overheat etc.

I dont like posting this stuff, but there are a lot of Istick users on the forum. He breaks a lot the basic rules and I have no idea what charger he was using. I would hate this to happen to someone in the forum. It certainly looks like a genuine story. He left the device charging on his bedside cabinet while they slept.
NEVER CHARGE WHILE YOU SLEEP AND NEVER CHARGE UNATTENDED

I run my crius tank like that, with one .4mm 316l coil at .44 ohms vertical at 10w. Get great flavour ,great battery life out of my vtc mini and it don,t eat the juice. Coil is 7 raps round a 2mm drill. The cotton blocks off one air hole and uses the four juice wells, never a dry hit and no leaks.
Not tried it on my magma as I only use it to test juices and the standard way of wicking is quicker for that. What attracted me was that the coil is totally vertical and directly above one of the airflow holes, really works well and in my opinion better than the other option of the the wick through the middle of the coil. Going around the coil there is much more metal to wick contact and much more juice available immediately. Loving it so far on TC I am a comfirmed dripperaholic lol. tanks just dont give me the flavour I want and more vapour production this way.

Built another one with pics. 9 or 10 turns of .5mm Titanium at 3mm diameter. Having thought about it a bit, it really doesn`t need to be a close coil. Slightly spaced will probably work better and lead to better liquid feed to the coil. Time will tell. Resistance is about .45 ohms.
The coil was wrapped on a 3mm diameter former. I used a 2.5 mm to centralise the coil over the air hole, it turned out to be a perfect fit for the airhole and kept the coil steady and in position.
You are going to be wrapping the wick around the outside of the coil and to get the best coverage and easiest build you need to bend the coil end wires as shown, otherwise you will probably end up with hot spots on the coil. In this pic see how the bottom wire is bent.
The same needs to be done with the top coil wire to allow for maximum wick freedom.
Cut a bit of Muji slightly wider than the height of the coil, you want to totally cover the outside of the coil with the cotton strip to avoid hotspots.
Feed the wick between the positive post and the coil, covering the length of the coil. Try and judge it so that when the rest of the wicking is done that they have equal lengths.
The other end of the wick then needs to be slid between the coil and the negative post. TRY AND MAKE SURE THE NEGATIVE CONNECTION TO THE COIL IS THE BOTTOM WIRE. Then if the bottom of the coil touches the atomiser, it wont be an issue as it is negative anyway. If you do it the other way round you could have a short.
The completed Dragon, vaping very well. The critical thing for liquid flow is to make sure that the wick where it goes between the posts is not too tight. If it is, remove a bit of cotton from that point of wick contact. Where the wick wraps around the coil, you dont want it too flat, but you dont want it too slack either. Somewhere between the two is ideal.
This is just the second time I have built this so probably room for improvement with different wire etc. I am vaping it on the RX200 and it is working very well on the Nickel TC setting with the temp at 360F.

Does anyone use the dragon build? At least I think it`s the dragon build lol. It mainly consists of having the cotton wick on the outside of the coil. The pic is my first attempt yesterday. It`s Titanium, 8 or 9 wraps in microcoil fashion but mine is 3mm diameter coming in at about .45 ohms (.5mm wire). The choice of wire type is not important but I wanted TC with a resistance that I could use in most TC mods. It`s a totally vertical coil which is well suited to the Magma with it`s excellent airflow design.
The coil is centered directly above the airhole inside the dripper about 2mm or so above it. After a lot of farting around and experimentation it is working really well in the Magma dripper, forces out vapor like a steam engine. The coil leg design needs improvement to make covering the coil completely easier and quicker, that`s the next step. Could also have two coils in the Magma, not sure I`ll need two though at my usual wattage.

How old are your batteries Harold?, depending on what they are and how long you have been using them the internal resistance will have gone up and the capacity will have gone down over time. If the onset of the problem has been gradual, a new set of quality batteries will probably get the performance back up

I think I want one but .............................. I do want one!!! Take £15 off the value of the tank and it`s pretty good. Mines on order Robby pre-sale 3fvape…. can't wait looks a lovely bit of kit The size of battery is a shame, but it`s also essential. This is probably the first pipe that will really perform as it doesn`t rely on a 18350 battery. Smok have really got the hang of TC etc now and that is coming from their greatest critic when they brought out their first M80 plus TC FAIL.

Tried a different build (dragon) on the Magma on top of the Rolo (RX200). It really works very well. The coil is about 8 wraps of Titanium in microcoil fashion although a bit wider (3mm diameter). About .45 ohms. The coil is totally vertical and situated directly above the airhole (about 2mm above). It seems to work best with the nickel option on the Rolo at about 300F. Maybe a bit too well for me as I am used to 25 watts With the cap off and wick fully primed it throws out vapor like a steam train and directly upwards from the top of the coil. Flavour is very good as well. I think I need to turn it down a bit though, getting too much nic

Thanks for the information. Much appreciated. That looks great Robby. Does it do normal AA charging too? I've been looking to expand my charger set-up anyway since christmas saw a LOAD of eneloop AA and AAA batteries needing charged. EDIT: Just ordered one too. Yes it does, also some very good tests on it for capacity etc when you batteries are getting a bit tired as well as internal resistance which goes up as the battery gets older.
