Terrible situation Blownupdolly thank god you didn't agree to babysit and take Princess with you! If I am honest the thought did briefly cross my mind, but it knew it would be a very stupid idea to take a 6yr old there. The thought makes me shudder. I said to my daughter that I would have been hysterical had she been with me. |

Nothing to add to this topic, but just wanted to say I love your revised avatar with your 'Princess' who's the only one who's got any power over you!  Awww thanks Raff and KarmaYes, you got it spot on Raff. The entire family have it sussed. If they want anything from me they get the princess to ask! Ironically, on NYE, in the afternoon I got a phone call from said princess..... "Nannyyyyyyyy.... Can I come stay tonight and we can make chocolate coins?" ... " noooo, sorry bubs, I am going out tonight" She takes a deep intake of breath and yells......... " MUMMMM!! You can't go to the party coz nanny is going out"  After what happened I would have been better off babysitting! |

Dolly, I wouldn't worry too much about finding the right words. What you posted here was a graphic description of events that left no one who read it in any doubt as to the horror of your experience! I'm sorry for such an awful night. I hope you get some decent responses and grovelling apologies. I don't doubt the police have records of all the events.. I think what I want from all this is a promise that he will reinstate the disabled zone and not allow corporate fat cats to take it over at the expense of our safety! |

It has been windy here, but I wouldn't say it was too bothersome. On the positive side, today we are bathed in glorious winter sunshine. Even beautiful blue skies!

I have emailed Boris Johnson's office, I recieved a automated response promising a proper reply within 20 days. I am disgusted that a corporate jolly was given your area, with a disregard for your safety. This event is always billed as being for the people. Phil thank you very much for your support. It is much appreciated. You really are a star.  I am only half way through the Vodafone one. I am slow at wording things correctly so keep deleting and rewriting things! I was wondering whether the police would have any documented record of getting me out and also sending the police horses through to control the flow of people? Not sure if they would if an offence wasn't committed, but it would be helpful to prove and indicate just how bad things got due to lack of crowd control. |

Dolly I've been following this with my mouth hanging open in disbelief: what a truly awful experience. In addition to the contacts given above, try writetothem.com to write to MPs and councillors. You put in your postcode and it gives you the local contacts. You could also put in the postcode for the embankment to get the relevant people there. Mornin' Steve. Thanks for that email Addie I will do them too. I have been thinking about some of the other people I spent time with in the disabled zone in previous years. I so hope none of them got caught out too. I especially remember a lovely couple who had bought their son down all the way from Manchester. He had cerebral palsy and was so so excited by it all. I couldn't have been the only person heading for there as it was a regular spot. |

Hi ya Blownupdolly, sorry to here about your bad experience on nye. I can't see Vodafone giving a hoot about your problem, their attitude will be they paid for your safe space so they are entitled to it. Boris is the man who sold it to them, so kick his back side. mayor@london.gov.uk is his email, demand a personal response, and mention you are writing to the press. It may be worth mentioning "Para-olympic disability legacy" he is so fond of twittering on about. Let us know how you get on. I will be emailing him this morning. Phil. I've been trying to find out who to email at Vodafone this morning without any luck. Did a google search which came up with nothing, so I gave their customer service number a shot. What a waste of time that was! They had no idea who to contact and were pretty much gormless! Still haven't found an email address for Boris Johnson's people on this subject either.  |
