The easy answer to that was brute force and ignorance!

We wrapped the GG in a few layers of electrical tape to protect it from damage and then (here's the clever bit) we wrapped the crossed threaded cap with sandpaper (grit side onto the tape). This gives plenty of grip so we then simply applied some brute force and twisted it off by hand.

Hot and cold would have been our next option...

Well, I made it!

And I think I'm alive, although there is a distinct possibility that my legs and nether-regions are broken beyond repair!

A total distance of 51.27 miles and a total ride time of 4 hours 11 minutes.

We believe so far that we have raised somewhere around £8000-£9000.
