The lizard is a Tokay Gecko... I used to keep them! Graeme, if that's you holding it then you're taking a bit of a risk! They have a very powerful and painful bite and are capable of nipping off a finger tip, although the one in your pic might not beacause it's fairly under-nourished. They're not outrageously expensive over here but they are definately only for experienced reptile keepers. Some interesting things about them are: They store fat reserves in their tail. They can safely lose the tail if grabbed by it, it will regrow. They can walk on almost any surface. They can move very quickly when necessary. They are very large for geckos. They are blue with orange spots. They make great insect controllers - some people catch them and have them living uncage din their houses. And here's my favourite... They are quite loud... and actually bark like a dog! Sean

They are made from seperate components mate, although I have some prototype board coming to see if they can be mounted as one component. Once I've made one and the bits are here (next Friday), I'll send one of your boxes back to you as he used one of yours to re-wire. I'll also send a couple of sets of the components for you to play with. Once you've seen how they're done (they are the simplest way to make a touch sensor) and made one for yourself, you can just return the box. Parts list is: MOSFET Resistor Capacitor 2 x touch pads Sean

Not too late at all! Anyone got one they can measure for me as I don't have any here? Sean

Got the touch switch today and have parts for more on order. It works well, but best as long as your fingers aren't bone dry! Oddly enough, just touching the sensors activates the circuit but a firm touch allows the circuitry to open more and allow more current to flow! Unfortunately, after speaking to my 'leccy wizard... it's back to the drawing board for the DB (double battery). I may just do it as a larger single 14500 battery mod but with space to carry a spare battery. The reason being that if there is anything wrong with one of the batteries (age, condition etc.) then it could short the other battery. Apparently, parallel wiring is not safe enough and I have no desire to put anyone at risk of injury or having the box burst in to flames! So, time to concentrate on the juice feed system! Sean

Graeme, Most of the mobile companies (3, Orange, Vodafone, O2 et al) do mobile broadband dongles on Pay As You Go. Check them out, order in advance for delivery to your Mum's and you should be good to go when you arrive. It's not as cheap as contract but then again, you're not committed to months on end. I use 3 at work and get good coverage. For me, Vodafone and Orange don't provide good coverage where I live but 3 and O2 are excellent. Sean

I just think it would be impossible to copyright the basics of a battery connected to a heating element. And as most mods are made from something else that has been converted, how would they be easily copyrighted? Most makers of the original parts would shy away from any home-made conversions regardless of their purpose, imho. Anyway, apologies for taking your thread off topic mate. :-[ Sean

I'd take it as a great compliment. If I can make something that someone considers worthy of emulating then I'd be quite proud! At the moment, as you know, I'm trying to take the bog-standard box mod and add something a little different. If it works and others follow suit, then not only would it be 'copied' but I'd also feel I'd done something to change vaping for the better. I got all my info from other vapers and if I can add a little bit from me and pass it on - fantastic! I'll never bother making some of the beautifully engineered vaping tools we see cropping up but I'm convinced I can take the basic box concept to a new level. And you, me, Camper, Lisa and Geoff are all sharing idea's with each other so some crossover is unavoidable anyway. Sean

Copyright... most of the mods available are simply variations on original themes that anyone would be hard pushed to lay claim to, imho. Besides, there are only so many ways you can connect a battery to an atomiser without repeating what has already been done. And don't forget, many of these mods have build guides in text or video all over the interweb. Sean

I think I'm going to put the PinPack JB on hold for now... I'm not happy with the feed system so will do some more research. Besides, Lisa makes them and Tony makes them... do we really need another type? I'll stick (for now) with the SB, small discrete, single 14500 and the DB which gives the option of two batts and double the mAh or a single batt box. Should pick up some touch sensor switches tomorrow (fingers crossed!). Sean
